The ideal candidate will have strong project management experience in construction, mechanical, electrical, or related industries, and has previously worked as a Field Project Manager handling multiple projects simultaneously. Under general direction, this position acts as the on-site project leader to plan, execute, and complete control systems projects with assigned customers. Responsibilities include performing or delegating tasks necessary for the execution and completion of assigned projects, such as hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning, and project closeout. The role is accountable for the overall financial results of assigned projects, including costs, project billings, and collections. We value a balance between customer satisfaction and project financial results and actively pursue opportunities for change orders. The individual will coordinate communication with the customer throughout all project phases, ensure proper execution of warranty, and provide direction to subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administration as necessary, all while adhering to safety standards and ethical practices. How you will do it:
Complete typical installation hardware design and software programming using established standards as required. Provide detailed information to communicate design and operation to customers, Johnson Controls staff, and subcontractors. Actively seek additional work through change orders. Evaluate the contractual scope of work and the impact of client-issued bulletins, field directives, and/or scheduling changes. Communicate technical and business-related issues with clients. Manage the selection, ordering, budget, and delivery schedule of materials to be procured for assigned projects. Secure pricing and availability from outside vendors and suppliers, including mechanical and electrical subcontractors. May request several bids in the pricing process. Oversee subcontractor payment and billing processes. Provide jobsite coordination for panel and field device locations. Ensure installation adheres to Johnson Controls literature and project requirements. Manage and complete the loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers as required. Validate complete system functionality and resolve issues with subcontractors to ensure proper operation. Provide accurate project as built and commissioning documentation. Manage costs, billings, and collections, completing project billings in a timely and accurate format to the client, while maintaining profitability goals and positive cash flow. Offer coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance to System Technicians, Electrical Installers, and System Designers. Ensure delegated tasks are completed accurately, on-time, billed, within budget, and within contract scope. Effectively communicate project status to management as required and provide monthly forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margin. Send warranty letters to JCI customers upon substantial project completion and ensure proper execution of warranty. Develop project plans and coordinate resources to ensure timely and cost-effective installation and completion of assigned projects. Perform site-specific training for owner/operators on the total system, ensuring they receive proper documentation and manuals for system operation. Build and maintain long-term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and subcontractors. Attend job progress meetings as required, ensuring adherence to safety standards with a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
What we look for:
A minimum of a technical Associate's Degree with two years of field experience or four years of equivalent related field experience in the HVAC industry. Relevant technical hands-on experience in systems design and commissioning of digital HVAC controls systems is essential. The ability to communicate technical material to a non-technical audience is crucial. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform work independently and possess strong personal computer skills. Knowledge of control theory and HVAC systems is required, while knowledge of project accounting, costing principles, and contracting is preferred. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply and contribute to our diverse and inclusive work environment.
