Director of Global Market Insights

Reporting to the Global Vice President of Marketing, the Director of Global Market Insights plays a pivotal role in shaping G&W Electric's business strategy by driving insights through market research, analysis, and data science applications. This hands-on and strategic role is responsible for guiding key decision-making processes, supporting corporate strategic planning, and uncovering opportunities for growth and innovation. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of conducting and leveraging advanced market research and data to deliver measurable business impact.

As a Director of Global Market Insights you will:



  • Lead a hands-on, strategic blend of global market insight initiatives, balancing high-level strategic planning with detailed execution of research methodologies.
  • Develop and execute customer segmentation, market sizing, and primary research initiatives to support G&W Electric's stage-gate product development process, providing actionable insights to guide innovation and growth.
  • Partner with senior leadership to support strategic planning, forecasting, solution portfolio strategy, and M&A evaluations, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Conduct in-depth research on emerging market trends, growth spaces, and innovative opportunities to position G&W Electric as a leader in its industry.
  • Leverage a foundational understanding of data science principles, including predictive analytics and alternative data sources, to enhance research efforts and apply insights to key business decisions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive teams, delivering proactive, data-driven recommendations that impact commercial strategy, product innovation, and customer engagement.
  • Oversee and prioritize global research efforts, managing competing needs from internal stakeholders, including Sales, Product Management, Marketing Communications, and Customer Support.
  • Drive customer journey mapping, profiling, and segmentation strategies, strengthening go-to-market plans and sales enablement efforts.
  • Establish and manage Voice of the Customer (VoC) programs, integrating findings into actionable strategies for customer experience improvements.
  • Identify and partner with market research firms, consultants, and tools to enhance global market research capabilities. Leverage advanced tools and technologies to elevate the sophistication of research efforts.
  • Monitor industry regulations, policy changes, and competitive activity, translating findings into strategic insights to inform business decisions.
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing market insight team, consistently delivering actionable insights and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.


As a Leader you will:



  • Serve as a hands-on team leader, contributing directly to research efforts while guiding the team's strategic vision.
  • Foster a data-driven decision-making and innovation culture, equipping the organization with the tools and insights to navigate complex markets.


We are looking for someone with:



  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in market research or strategy, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience conducting customer segmentation, market sizing, and primary research to inform innovation and product development pipelines.
  • A track record of successfully researching growth spaces and emerging market opportunities.
  • A foundational understanding of data science principles and their application to market research and decision-making.
  • Demonstrated success in influencing business outcomes through market research efforts, data science, and strategic insights, driving growth, innovation, and competitive differentiation.
  • A strong mix of hands-on research expertise and strategic vision.
  • Exceptional skills in market research methodologies, including primary and secondary research, customer segmentation, and trend analysis.
  • An understanding of data science tools (e.g., Python, R, SPSS, or similar) and techniques (e.g., predictive modeling, statistical analysis).
  • Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience influencing executive leadership.
  • The ability to balance multiple priorities and manage cross-functional stakeholder relationships effectively.


Ideally you will have:



  • An MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience, particularly in roles that demonstrate measurable business impact through research and insights.
  • Knowledge of the power industry or related sectors, including an understanding of regulatory and competitive dynamics.


The working conditions of the role are:



  • General office environment with occasional travel required to support global research efforts and stakeholder engagement.


What we offer you:

Typical pay is $155,698 - 206,230 annually.

Please note the pay information shown above is a general guideline. Pay is based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications.

This position is eligible for participation in our Quarterly Incentive Pay Program
