Summary:

The Nursing Assistant/Aide are responsible in providing care to individuals. Such care ranges from attending to individuals' personal hygienic needs to assure the person's comfort to perform a limited number of simple treatments and therapy. They provide direct hands-on care by assisting individuals with bathing, dressing, perineal care, mobility, eating, and other activities of daily living. They perform tasks requiring skills that aid/promote the health and well-being of patients following established guidelines, policies, and procedures, under the direction of an LPN or RN. They work cooperatively and participate in meeting facility goals with interdepartmental staff, as well as acting as an integral member of the multidisciplinary clinical team. They identify and participate in activities that increase knowledge and update clinical skills, ensuring growth and development. Reviews Memo & Posting Book daily for updates.

Nursing Assistants perform tasks requiring skills that aid/promote the health and well-being of patients. Examples of these tasks performed under appropriate supervision include but are not limited to:

  • Observes and reports signs and symptoms of illness or change in status of patients.
  • Gives enemas, douches and irrigations as directed.
  • Observes and records patient's quantitative intake of food and outputs of wastes.
  • Takes temperatures, pulse rates, blood pressure and respiration rate.
  • Receives the patient's valuables and other belongings and conveys them to safe storage keeping appropriate records.
  • Escorts patients to and from areas where special treatment is administered.
  • Feeds patients requiring assistance to assure that such patients receive appropriate nourishment.
  • Bathes patients, while using varied equipment and techniques (e.g. bed bath, shower tables, whirlpool tub, hubbard tub).
  • Makes patients bed and assists patients with ADL's (e.g. personal hygiene, dressing, ambulation, ROM).
  • As directed by professional staff moves, positions, lifts, and transports patients more comfortably, to prepare patients for treatments and to deliver them to appropriate treatment areas.
  • Always uses proper and safe body mechanics to avoid injury to patient and self.
  • Brings bed pans and urinals to disabled patients.
  • Attends to incontinent patients.
  • Talks to patients, listens, and responds by encouraging them to cooperate and participate in treatment activities.


  • Ability to understand oral and written unit reports.
  • Ability to accurately organize and convey a unit report orally and in writing.



Requirements:

  • Must have at least 1 year of experience working in a hospital, skilled/long-term nursing facility.
  • Must have a certification in the state of Arizona.



Shift: Day, with every other weekend and some holidays. 3-12-hour shifts.

Contract Length: 13 weeks, with the possibility of extensions.
