Evoke is seeking a Lead Database Administrator to join our team!

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of database systems, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
  • Oversee database monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting to maintain optimal performance and reliability.
  • Develop and implement best practices for database security, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.
  • Manage database migrations, upgrades, and patches while minimizing downtime.
  • Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to optimize database queries, schema design, and indexing strategies.
  • Automate database management processes, including monitoring, backup, and performance tuning.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security policies.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of database administrators and engineers.
  • Stay up to date with emerging database technologies and trends, recommending improvements as needed.

Professional Experience and Skills:

  • Expertise in various database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of database architecture, optimization, indexing, partitioning, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with database backup and recovery solutions, replication, clustering, and high availability strategies.
  • Proficiency in SQL, scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash), and automation tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide a team.

Education and Years of Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in database administration, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

Security Clearance

  • Applicants selected must be eligible to work in the United States, be subject to a government security investigation, and meet eligibility requirements for access to protected information.

Work Location

  • Washington, DC (100% on-site)
