WAGES AND BENEFITS

$27.00 - $32.00 per hour; Generous Paid Time Off (PTO), 24 hours of paid employee volunteer time, plus nine paid holidays and two floating holidays; competitive health, dental, and vision insurance; Health Savings Account (HSA), and options for Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). There is employer paid basic life insurance with the option for additional coverage paid by the employee. The employer pays for Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) and short- and long-term disability insurance. MACC sponsors a retirement plan with a 4% employer match plus a 2% employer contribution after one year of service and immediate vesting.

Schedule

This is a hybrid position that will require some in-person work. Relocation to Minnesota is required for this role if applying from out of state.

A Typical Day in the Life...

A typical day as MACC's Benefits Specialist provides an opportunity to be a key resource for our Human Resources team, helping out with the day-to-day Benefits operations for the human service organizations we serve. Responsibilities will include the following:



  • Managing Open Enrollment communication and administration for all members.
  • Providing New Hire training to educate employees on the benefits available to them.
  • Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations surrounding ERISA, COBRA, state continuation, ACA, PHI/PII/HIPAA, and ensuring accuracy and timely reporting requirements.
  • Managing sensitive information and protected health information with a high level of confidentiality and ensuring compliance with regulations and requirements.
  • Monitoring a shared email inbox and phone line for all employees of all member organizations.
  • Administering leave of absences, including monitoring accruals, benefits, and communication with employees and HRBPs.
  • Submitting deductions from employees' paychecks on time to appropriate vendors.
  • Maintaining relationships with the different vendors for each member organization.
  • Working collaboratively with other members of the team to ensure the experience for all employees is efficient and streamlined.
  • Overseeing the completion and monitoring of enrollments for new hires and status changes as needed.
  • Reconciling at least quarterly benefit invoices by provider and member organization.
  • Monitoring and administering life events and the subsequent processes involved.
  • Working closely with the Payroll Team, Operations Specialist, and HR Manager to ensure benefits-related accuracy during every payroll cycle and collaborating on projects and enhancements needed for the organization.
  • Communicating with employees about their paychecks and leave policies, including how to calculate their leave and where to locate it.
  • Backing up system configuration when pertaining to payroll and benefits, including timekeeping, HRIS, and reviewing others' configuration.
  • Staying up to date on relevant systems, best practices, and possible enhancements to our systems, practices, and procedures, making strategic suggestions based on your area of expertise.



Who You Are



  • You have a bachelor's or associate degree in a relevant field, or you have demonstrably equivalent knowledge gained through alternative courses of study and life experience.
  • You have a minimum of 2 years of work experience in Human Resources, preferably in Payroll, Compensation, or Benefits administration.
  • You possess knowledge of the human services nonprofit sector and have experience working in a nonprofit setting (preferred).
  • You demonstrate strong independent judgment and problem-solving skills, seeking guidance from members of the team when necessary.
  • You are "systems-minded" with the ability to think through how one process will affect another and how that impacts our members' experiences.
  • You look for and have the ability to implement efficiencies in all aspects.
  • You have effective time management skills and keep projects on schedule.
  • You demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • You have the ability to discern and understand compliance requirements, including interpretation and application to individual situations.
  • You are able to travel to client sites within a 15-mile radius of the MACC office.
  • You have a valid driver's license, access to reliable transportation, and meet MACC's driving record requirements. If the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit within 60 days of becoming a Minnesota resident (not applicable for new hires living out of state).
