Responsibilities

Position Summary:

  • Work with the B. Braun Product Engineering group, R&D Engineering group and OEM Engineering group on new molded part development.
  • Review new molded part designs for moldability.
  • Support R&D on rapid prototype designs.
  • Compose RFQ's and obtain quotes from outside Mold Builders for capital mold projects.
  • Work with Procurement to review mold quotes and complete decision matrix for placement of the molds.
  • Develop mold and molding work cell project costs and supply to Project Managers.

Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Develop mold and molding work cell project costs and supply to Project Managers.
  • Compose Mold Specification document for mold build projects.
  • Oversee the procurement of plastic injection mold tooling and equipment.
  • Prototype/Bridge molds, High volume production molds, Molding machines, Water Thermarator's, Hot Runner Controllers, and Robots / End of Arm / Caging for molding work cells.
  • Work with outside mold builders to review mold designs.
  • Review designs for B. Braun mold standards.
  • Review for ease of maintenance.
  • Review for ease of assembly and disassembly.
  • Review for proper mold and mold component tool steels and hardness's.
  • Review for proper critical steel size, draft angle, and finishes.
  • Complete design checklist.
  • Manages all aspects of projects for an organization.
  • Coordinates the work activities for multiple functions to ensure satisfying delivery.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the project lifecycle: planning, scope definition, design, execution and delivery.
  • Tracks progress against milestones, budgetary guidelines or other performance indicators, and prepares reports to senior management.
  • Assists with the selection, negotiation and managing of all activities regarding external consultants or vendors. Must build collaborative relationships.
  • Must have ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills, project scheduling skills and project management skills.
  • Travel to mold builder with our Process Engineer to see the mold run and review the process development.
  • Complete the factory acceptance run.
  • Coordinate with Logistics to have the mold shipped.
  • Work with complex projects, problems, and issues.
  • Collaborate with Robot vendors to develop end of arm tooling and parts handling for molding work cells.
  • Work with molding machine and auxiliary equipment vendors to have equipment shipped to B. Braun.
  • Work with internal B. Braun departments to have the equipment set-up in the plant.
  • Support the validation of the molds and equipment to allow us to go into production.
  • Transfer mold project knowledge to the Mold Shop and Sustaining Mold Engineering group.

  • Requires breadth of professional field and industry knowledge. Ability to integrate critical information and champion advanced strategies/concepts through the organization. Drives development of advanced technologies, principles and processes.
  • Work under minimal supervision. Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish assigned goals. May periodically assist in orienting, training , assigning and checking the work of lower level employees. Referring only complex problems and issues
  • Judgement is required in resolving complex problems based on experience.
  • Contacts are primarily with department supervisors, leads, subordinates, and peers. Frequent contact with external contractors/vendors.

The targeted range for this role takes into account a range of factors that are considered when making compensation and hiring decisions; included but not limited to: skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience, Master's degree preferred.
  • 10-12 years related experience required.
  • Applicable industry/professional certification preferred.
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Occasional business travel required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
