DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Facility Operations Supervisor, you will plan, oversee, and perform maintenance of buildings and grounds at the Southeastern Veterans' Center. You will schedule and assign work, monitor work orders for completion, and maintain employee time records. You will ensure the proper sanitation and cleanliness of vehicles used for the transportation of food and residents, as well as assist in road testing, diagnosing defects, and scheduling repairs needed to maintain the automotive and equipment fleet. This role requires using experience in various trades to help maintain the safety and efficiency of grounds, buildings, equipment, and machinery. In addition, you will interpret blueprints and specifications for new construction and renovation projects, respond to emergency maintenance calls, conduct departmental meetings, and make quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) recommendations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime as needed
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of skilled trades work experience in commercial, industrial, multi-unit residential facilities, or utility plant operations; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades. Examples of qualifying trades include carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, steam fitting/pipefitting, refrigeration/HVAC, painting, roofing/tinsmith, drywall/plasterer, and automotive mechanic work that includes performing technical duties on motors, engines, and electrical systems
  • Experience in the carpentry, plumbing, and electrical fields
  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration and/or HVAC systems
  • Commercial maintenance experience
  • Experience with 3-phase wiring to include emergency generators, switch gears and 3-phase panels
  • Experience with domestic hot water mixing valves, recirculating loops, aqua stats and instantaneous water heaters
  • Experience with Life Safety Code and Inspections
  • Supervisory experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings
  • Supervisory experience in the maintenance or repair of buildings at a long-term care facility

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
