Department Summary The UNT Career Center is the centralized career office responsible for the career development and employment of all UNT students and alumni. It has responsibility for all Student Employment, Internships, and Post-Graduate Employment of UNT students. Position Overview The Career Center at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Career Coach (Student Services Coordinator) to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include: Lead efforts toward planning and implementing career development and job search programs and services working with students, faculty and staff in the College of Education (CoE). This includes but is not limited to individual advising, group workshops, presentations, and facilitating classes/courses. Interface with students at all degree levels and alumni in assigned academic/programmatic areas. * Analyze student's career paths, initiate career assessments, and provide advice. * Develop and conduct workshops, assess their effectiveness, and implement changes needed to engage students. * Develop ongoing relationships and work cooperatively with faculty and administration in assigned areas. * Manage the assessment of career programs and services and deliver reports to their supervisor. * Lead job market research efforts for their assigned area, to provide current and relevant data to faculty and students. Work directly with student organizations in making connections to corporate speakers/mentors. * Provide marketing career services to the students and faculty in the assigned department. Assist with and support employer development and relations within the College of Education. Provide assistance to other units in the Career Center and perform other duties as assigned for optimal operational success of the Career Center. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related field and two years' of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops. Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations. Experience in networking across departments and programs. Ability to communicate and work with a diverse population. Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects. Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in major related field or higher education, counseling, student affairs, or related. Professional or academic experience in Kinesiology, Health, Recreation, and/or Human Development and Family Sciences. Knowledge of career development, resources and theories, job/internship search techniques and technologies. Familiarity with career assessment tools. Required License/Registration/Certifications n/a Job Duties: Interface with students as they seek guidance concerning employment, career development, internships, graduate education, and career related issues. Analyze students career paths, initiate career assessments, provide advice on resume development, interview preparation, and offer internship and job search resources Develop and conduct workshops and seminars on a variety of topics, assess their effectiveness and implement changes needed to engage and enhance student preparedness for the workplace In collaboration with the COE Student Advising Office, create student engagement related to career readiness in the college and develop ongoing relationships with faculty, staff and administration working with the College of Education student population. Develop reports on the statistical data for all student engagement and programming for assigned area(s) of responsibility to be used for Career Center data collection. Provide assistance to other units in the Career Center and campus departments and perform other duties as assigned for optimal operational success of the Career Center and to support student success. Work cooperatively with faculty and the Career Center Employer Services team to utilize more companies and alumni from a broad range of industries to engage with students on campus.
