U.S. Data Analytics - Specialist

Aon is seeking a U.S. Data Analytics - Specialist based out of headquarters in Chicago, Illinois.

Aon's Construction & Infrastructure team is looking for a US Data Analytics - Specialist to join our team. As a US Data Analytics - Specialist, you will be teamed with the C&I data analytics team to work with our colleagues nationally and globally to manage C&I's construction risk insights platform, assist in launching and following up on new analytical initiatives, support our day-to-day team needs, extend best standards of practice across different countries, and more. Success in this role will be shown by your ability to effectively handle multiple opportunities simultaneously and identify, grow, and maintain C&I's data analytics platforms.

This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Chicago office.

What the day will look like

  • Analyze datasets using statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques.
  • Build statistical and machine learning models for construction and infrastructure datasets.
  • Collaborate with the data engineering team on data pipelines and data ingestion solutions.
  • Translate and simplify results for presentations on data analyses.
  • Design, develop, and deploy statistical models.
  • Design visualization tools and reporting automation using Tableau, Power BI, plotly, and shiny.
  • Develop Power BI dashboards, with a strong understanding of DAX and semantic models.
  • Support client teams with data-related requests.
  • Develop validation and quality control methodologies.
  • Conduct data cleaning, exploratory analysis, and predictive analysis.
  • Utilize R, Python, and SQL programming to analyze and visualize data.
  • Demonstrate critical and analytical thinking to solve current challenges and enable C&I product teams to become data-driven and data-savvy.
  • Be versatile and ready to go above and beyond, including learning new skills that may involve data engineering work.

Qualifications:

  • This position is available to Seniors graduating between Spring 2024 - Spring 2025

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related field, along with initial experience in progressive data analytics.
  • Experience in each of the following:
    • Analyzing datasets using statistical methods, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques.
    • Designing visualization tools and reporting automation using Tableau, Power BI, plotly, and shiny.
    • Conducting data cleaning, exploratory analysis, and predictive analysis.
    • Utilizing R, Python, and SQL programming to analyze and visualize data.
  • Fundamental understanding and experience in building statistical and machine learning models.
  • Strong knowledge of Power BI, including DAX and semantic models.
  • Critical and analytical thinking skills.

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $20.50 - $26.50 hourly. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

Aon offers a benefits package for temporary and seasonal employees who will work 20 or more hours per week including: medical, dental, and vision insurance at the employee's expense, critical illness insurance, 10 Company holidays per calendar year (paid, if eligible), paid sick leave as provided under state and local law, and a 401(k) savings plan with employer contributions. Eligibility for benefits are governed by the applicable plan documents and policies.
