Job Description

The Financial Reporting Analyst will be based in our headquarter office located in Orange County, California. The successful candidate will be able to display excellent financial reporting and analytical skills. The successful candidate will assist in the preparation and review of operational and financial reporting packages, translate data into reports and financial models supporting the management team in making informed decisions. The candidate will work closely with business partners to establish tools, data sets, and standard reports to support department needs. The candidate must have the ability to logically think through an issue and create a new or enhance an existing process. The successful candidate is an innovative thinker who can be presented with a small idea or problem and turn it into actionable solution.   • Design, create and deliver timely and accurate standard periodic reporting and ad-hoc reporting on various operational and financial metrics, providing analysis and interpretation as required
  • Assist with the preparation and review of monthly and quarterly operational and financial reporting packages
  • Analyze current and historical financial results, perform variance analysis of key metrics, identify trends and recommend actions
  • Prepare and present operational and economic models to support strategic initiatives
  • Support senior management team and department leaders with in-depth analysis
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual operating budget and quarterly forecast
  • Prepare, analyze, and distribute departmental budget vs. actual results
  • Develop and track key operational and financial performance metrics against the company's strategic objectives
  • Assist in the revenue and cost analysis process; provide trends and forecasts; explain variances; and recommend actions
  • Assist in various efforts to improve the efficiency surrounding the data collection and reporting by developing automated processes and applications
  • Work closely with Business Intelligence team to automate production of standard periodic reports
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications
  • Participate on special projects and perform other tasks as assigned
  • Cross-trained in duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail

  • Desire to utilize analytical skills in order to use the data to tell a story
  • Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated strategic and creative thinking ability
  • Proven team player with the ability to guide and influence cross-functional teams
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, or related fields. MBA, graduate degree is a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to create financial models
  • 2-4 years of successful experience in a Financial Analyst position
  • Experience in financial reporting, data analysis, report writing and business intelligence
  • Knowledge of Yardi and Real Estate industry / terminology is a plus
  • Knowledge of SQL, Essbase Tableau, Jaspersoft is a plus

Salary Range

Placement within this compensation range will be determined by the candidate's knowledge, experience and skills.
