ABOUT THE JOB

The Fleet Manager works with internal customers on fleet maintenance, cost of ownership, equipment sourcing, and plays a critical role in determining vendors to best meet company's needs and minimize costs. This will include providing guidance and subject matter expertise to ensure Hawkins is compliant with applicable Federal, State, and local regulatory requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Manages fleet including updating vehicle status change records, electronic logging device tracking and troubleshooting, and vehicle inspections and maintenance records.
* Manages the Fleetio vehicle maintenance program to ensure companywide utilization, capturing of all related vehicle maintenance costs, maintenance and inspection alerts and expirations, success of the program and consistent execution.
* Research, interpret, and assist affected personnel with understanding and implementing DOT regulations and other related requirements.
* Promote safety awareness and accident prevention; investigate any accidents, determine root cause, and initiate corrective action.
* Build a positive working relationship with all levels and across all departments to collaborate and problem solve.
* Identify areas for continuous improvement and implement solutions.
* Train drivers and management on applicable operating procedures, equipment usage and work instructions
* Create/update fleet policy and procedures, including vehicle assignment, personal use, replacement policy, maintenance policy and other procedures.
* Select and manage vehicle maintenance vendors, and proactively work to reduce company costs.
* Assist in management of auto claims process, vehicle licensing and registration
* Report fleet expense performance regularly to management, including an annual report when submitting the coming year's budget. Assist with creating fleet expense and capital budgets.
* Perform other miscellaneous related duties, as needed.

ABOUT YOU:

* BA/BS degree in transportation, logistics, fleet safety, or management; or equivalent years of experience.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a CDL preferred
* At least 3 years of experience in a transportation/fleet safety role; prior experience with chemical or oil & gas industries preferred
* Extensive knowledge of DOT regulations including hours of service hazardous materials, roadside inspections, and of FMCSA's CSA program and the BASIC scoring/measuring system.
* Experience in creating and establishing fleet policies and procedures
* Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and providing timely communications of progress to stakeholders within established timeframes
* Ability to effectively work independently, as part of a team, and to build strong working relationships with other departments including all levels of management
* Ability to accept and embrace change, and energized by challenge
* Effective problem-solving skills with a focus on customer service
* Ability to think critically, to ask the right questions, separate facts from assumptions, and determine what is relevant and what is not in the decision-making and negotiating process
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
* Ability to identify potential risks and take preventive steps to mitigate those risks
* Proficient with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, ascend or descend stairs, and walk for extended periods of time in an office or manufacturing setting or outdoors, including areas where conditions may include odors, varying temperatures, humidity, and moderate levels of noise
* Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, protective footwear; additional PPE may be required for certain company facilities such a respirator and chemical suit
* Must be able to work outdoors in both extreme heat and extreme cold for prolonged periods of time.

TRAVEL

Travel up to 25%

Expected Compensation: $85,000-$95,000 + 5% bonus
