Senior Program Coordinator for LifeCourse Nexus - Institute for Human Development

The Institute for Human Development (IHD), University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC).

The UMKC Institute for Human Development, University Center on Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (IHD) is an applied research and training center for human services designed to exemplify the University's goals of engaged scholarship and community partnerships. Its functions include interdisciplinary training, applied research, community program development and information dissemination. The LifeCourse Nexus Training and Technical Assistance Center, housed at UMKC Institute for Human Development, is designed to support the "intersect of Charting the LifeCourse ideas, collaboration and transformation." As the definition of "nexus" implies, it is the central place that connects or links groups, things, and ideas together. The LifeCourse Nexus provides an infrastructure to a growing network of implementers on the Charting the LifeCourse framework to learn from one another, share stories, and participate in opportunities to build one another's capacity. In addition, the Nexus serves as a research center, partnering with people and organizations who are using CtLC as a lens to enhance and innovate existing resources, training, and practices, and/or to develop new promising practices, resources, trainings, or products. The Nexus then disseminates these innovations, through access to resources and materials, and providing training and technical assistance.

The IHD is seeking an experienced and resourceful leader to become a Senior Program Coordinator with the LifeCourse Nexus. This role is highly collaborative and is a key contributor to the successful development and expansion of LifeCourse training and knowledge translation goals in Missouri and across the country. This position will have an integral leadership role developing and sustaining a priority area of the Center.

The LifeCourse Senior Program Coordinator will:

• Manage and coordinate a portfolio of national and state projects. This includes coordination of workplans and internal and external team members to ensure task completion.
• Identify and develop new and on-going projects and funding with internal IHD staff and external partners.
• Provide technical assistance and training to organizations and professionals to integrate and implement best practies, including the LifeCourse framework and tools.
• Lead a team of staff, consultants and partners in responding to the training and technical assistance needs focused on Charting the LifeCourse and other best practices.
• Lead the development and maintenance of in-person and virtual training resources and tools for individuals, families, professionals and organizations
• Support the development and expansion of the national network of learners.
• Assist with the evaluation and research of best practices and/or LifeCourse projects, programs and evidence-based practices focusing at all levels.
• Maintain subject matter expertise on national and national and state level policy, practice, and research on person-centered and other key practice areas.
• Develop and maintain strong synergistic relationships with IHD, LifeCourse team members and other national partners.
• Other duties as assigned.

Reporting Structure:

The LifeCourse Senior Project Coordinator reports directly to the LifeCourse Nexus Assistant Director. This position is housed on the University of Missouri Kansas City campus. Out of state applicants will be considered, if it is understood that there will be requirements of Kansas City meetings and office hours throughout the year. Some travel may be required, depending on contracts and grants.

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

• Personal lived experience or working experience with people with disabilities and/or their families.
• Preferred master's or doctoral degree in social work, human/social services, healthcare management, or public administration.
• Experience working with more than one project at a time.
• Two or more years of experience with project management, information dissemination, data collection, or experience on research projects.

Demonstrated relevant experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:

• Experience and expertise in best practices for family and person centered practices and/or CtLC, including implementation of the framework/tools into day-to day role or organizational policies, procedures, or culture.
• Self-driven performance and initiative with strong skills organizing and managing projects and team members
• Experience with developing training and written materials for broad dissemination and use (such as: reports, publications, resource/curriculum development, tools for individuals and families)
• Coordinated and/or lead strategic planning or process consulting for organizational change
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse learning populations
• Strong connection to and/or active membership in national, state and local organizations specific to family and caregiver best practices

Anticipated starting salary of $85,000 annually commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
