Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, the EHS Manager is responsible for the direction, implementation and sustainability of companywide Environmental, Health and Safety programs directed toward maintaining safe and healthy working conditions and reducing or eliminating industrial accidents and hazards, as well as managing the internal compliance requirements of the company's Environmental Management System (EMS). This will be achieved by maintaining HellermannTyton's IATF16949/ISO9001 Quality and ISO14001 EMS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions and required documentation.

Essential Functions:



  • Recommend and develop programs relating to all phases of the company's safety and environmental operations. Review and update existing EHS policies as necessary to meet state local and federal regulations.
  • Ensure that policies, procedures and training requirements in areas of responsibility are followed. Audit programs to ensure continued success.
  • Participates in internal, external and compliance audits. Recommend preventive measures to assure compliance with company policies and government regulations. Actively stimulate, support and gain the interest of management, supervision and personnel to support proactive safety and environmental programs and activities.
  • Coordinate the Safety Committee. Schedule and perform periodic safety inspections to identify environmental and occupational hazards.
  • Develop and conduct EHS orientation for new employees. Provide adequate and continuous Environment, Health & Safety training.
  • Develop and specify safe operating and accident prevention policies/programs, to include specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and devices.
  • Review all accident and near miss reports and participate in the recommendation of corrective actions to eliminate reoccurrence. Investigate major accidents.
  • Report all Workers' Compensation (WC) injuries/illnesses. Coordinate WC Return-to Work program. Maintain OSHA 300 logs and Summary of Occupational Injuries and Illness'.
  • Maintain the company's electronic Chemical Inventory (SDS's) through MSDSOnline.
  • Manages the EHS Department by coaching, mentoring, assigning and assisting with job duties, etc. Complete performance evaluations for direct reports. Oversees and supports the department.
  • Maintain ISO 14001 certification by functioning as the company's ISO 14001 Management Representative and Internal Audit Coordinator (Faulkner and Good Hope locations).
  • Manage and coordinate the EMS Document Control System in MQ1 and Corrective Action Recommendation (CAR) System. Communicate system status to executive management.
  • Review environmental regulations that apply to all four facilities and ensure compliance to all regulations.
  • Active member of pandemic response team during a pandemic situation.
  • Leads COVID-19 communications, investigations and manages corresponding documentation.


Other Functions



  • Publishes EHS Department monthly activity report, prepare various reports; updates, communicates and posts metrics; completes surveys; and undertake special projects as needed.
  • Coordinate drug testing program.
  • Work with Contractors/Vendors on receiving certification to comply with EHS procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

What You'll Bring



  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university, preferably in Environmental Health & Safety, Business Management or related field.
  • 5 or more years professional EHS experience in a manufacturing environment, with a solid understanding of EHS regulations/legislation and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  • Prior supervisory/leadership experience desirable.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Products, including Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Ability to multi-task, be flexible, adapt to changing requirements/deadlines/situations, work non-standard hours.
  • Professional EHS certification preferred.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours to meet the needs of employees on all 3 shifts.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, with an acceptable driving record, along with adequate insurance.
