Payroll and Benefits Specialist

  • Compile all materials for payroll processing, input payroll data and process bi-weekly payroll;



  • Performs department specific administrative support tasks;



  • Reconcile and file all quarterly/annual federal and state payroll reports (i.e. 941s, W-2s, 1095s, WT-7, etc.);



  • Review and record personal information of newly hired employees regarding pay rate, insurance benefits and retirement benefits;



  • Monitor and prepare reporting requirements for the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, and EEO-1 CRDC reporting;



  • Maintain staff employment records;



  • Oversee Skyward time-off for all employees including year-end rolls;



  • Oversee TrueTime timekeeping system;



  • WRS monthly and annual reporting;



  • Prepare reports for staff for FMLA/unpaid time-off/docked pay;



  • Reconcile payroll liability accounts;



  • Assist in the year-end audit;



  • Prepare reports for Board and Administration as requested;



  • Maintain employee benefits and deductions as requested;



  • Complete other duties as assigned.





Qualifications


  • Education: Required - High school diploma or its equivalent; Associate's Degree or higher in a related field is preferred.



  • Strong knowledge of business office functions including payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.



  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently, problem-solve and prioritize tasks.



  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality relating to all business, personnel, and school district matters.



  • Commitment to professional standards and ethics.



  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents, members of the community and Board of Education.



  • Knowledge of general ledger/Wisconsin Uniform Financial Accounting Reporting codes preferred.



  • Knowledge and experience using Skyward Qmlativ financial management software strongly preferred.



  • Ability to utilize new and existing technology effectively. Advanced working knowledge of computers including, but not limited to, utilization of databases, Gmail, Google Docs, Slides and Calendar, Microsoft Office Suite, the internet, and other related applications. General working knowledge of standard office equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time; occasionally required to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.; consistently and repetitively operates a computer and other office machinery such as calculation devices, copy machine and/or computer printer; regularly required to communicate and exchange accurate information with administration, staff, and the public.
