Job Summary

The Research Project Manager provides essential support to Department of Radiology research industry partnerships. These research partnerships are cross-functional, large-scale projects which span multiple departments across UCSF and UCSF Health. The candidate will be a proven leader with project management skills, experience in a wide-range of clinical trials, and have the ability to consistently deliver results on a tight timeline.

Under the direction of the Director of Research Development and the Vice of Reseearch, the Research Project Manager is responsible for strategic planning in order to meet program goals, along with ensuring all reporting and study milestones are met including data entry timelines, budget and sponsor requirements. This position also requires the candidate to collaborate with Principal Investigators and scientific oversight committees to ensure that the project goals are met. Prior experience collaborating with senior leadership and research staff is preferred.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $80,200 - $120,300 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging is one of the largest departments in the School of Medicine at UCSF. Its mission is research (basic and clinical), teaching, patient care, and public service. Major activities of the department include general Radiology, Mammography, Interventional Radiology, CT, MRI, Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine. The Department has 32 sections and research units, 150 full-time faculty, 285 staff, and 160 trainees across six sites: Parnassus, ZSFG, VA Medical Center, Mt. Zion, China Basin Landing, and Mission Bay (QB3). Many of our faculty conduct research activities and manage large research staffs, including students, fellows, post docs, and staff research associates. Some conduct bench research in wet lab settings; others have dry lab (computer based) research programs or specialize in clinical research.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in research or medical administration setting
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses.
  • Analytical / problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
