Job Summary (Primary function)
Sr. Director, Information Management (PMO) will manage our data and analytics strategy. This role will prioritize and lead numerous data related initiatives, work with engineering teams to define governance and compliance strategies, and leverage MS Power BI to develop dashboards and provide advanced analytics. This role requires strong project management capabilities and the ability to foster data driven insights across R&D.

Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)
Program Strategy and Roadmaps
o Develop and execute a strategic business vision for the R&D data lake, aligning it with R&D business goals and broader organizational strategies.
o Work with Engineering (IT) to create and maintain a roadmap for the R&D data lake evolution, including new data set integration, technology advancements, reporting and analytical capabilities.
o Develop a strategy to migrate legacy Oracle OBIEE Dashboards to a new MS Power BI environment and develop a model to support an ongoing backlog of ad-hoc report requests.
Data Management, Governance, and Compliance
o Work with IT on the ingestion, transformation, and storage of data in the R&D data lake, ensuring data quality, integrity, and compliance with regulatory standards.
o Work with data engineers to design data architectures that support complex analyses and machine learning applications.
o Work with IT and other stakeholders to establish governance policies for data access, security, and usage within the R&D data lake and across reporting solutions.
o Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal data governance guidelines.
Stakeholder Engagement and Project Management
o Act as the liaison between R&D teams, IT, and external data providers or partners, ensuring effective communication and collaboration to integrate various sources of information.
o Gather requirements from various R&D departments to ensure the data lake meets diverse needs across drug discovery, clinical trials, and product development.
o Lead cross-functional teams through project phases, from planning to execution and post-implementation support.
o Manage timelines, budgets, and resources to deliver projects on schedule and within scope.
Analytics Strategy and Development
o Develop strategies for using Power BI in predictive analytics, trend analysis, and performance tracking related to R&D projects.
o Ensure that the analytics developed align with strategic R&D objectives, providing foresight and decision support.
o Oversee the development of Power BI reports and dashboards to provide actionable insights for R&D.
o Work closely with IT, engineering teams, data analysts and scientists to ensure the semantic models in Power BI are optimized for R&D analytics.
Data Visualization:
o Drive the creation of intuitive, insightful visualizations that help R&D teams understand complex data sets.
o Implement best practices in data visualization to ensure clarity and impact in reporting.
o Promote the use of Power BI, providing training or resources to enhance data literacy and analytics capabilities among staff.
o Foster a culture where data-driven decisions are the norm through the effective use of Power BI.
Technology and Innovation:
o Stay abreast of trends in data lake technologies and methodologies, particularly those relevant to pharmaceutical R&D.
o Evaluate and recommend tools or platforms (like Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Lake, etc.) that enhance our data lake capabilities.

Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Bioinformatics, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
o 10+ years in data management or data governance roles, preferably in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
o Proven experience in managing large-scale data platforms, specifically data lakes.
o Experience with Microsoft Azure, Fabric, or similar cloud platforms for data management is highly desirable.
o Demonstrated expertise in Power BI, including report development, dashboard creation, and data model optimization.
Skills:
o Excellent understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and ETL processes.
o Proficiency in data governance, security, and compliance.
o Strategic thinking with the ability to translate complex data needs into actionable programs.
o Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
