$120,400-$140,700 Application Window Open date: March 6, 2025 Next review date: Saturday, Apr 5, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Saturday, Apr 5, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Project Scientist (1 year contract at Project Scientist, Step 5 with 78% effort) will be a research scientist in the laboratory of Dr. Petrovic. The position involves the planning and execution of a range of biochemical and cell biology experiments relating to the mammalian tight junction architecture, and the training of postdoctoral, graduate, and undergraduate students on the methods and analyses used in the research group. The Project Scientist must have experience with molecular cloning, protein expression, protein purification, biophysical characterization of protein-protein interactions. The Project Scientist must be able to rapidly acquire knowledge in X-ray crystallography and cryogenic electron microscopy as well as the full gamut of biochemistry/molecular biology and cell culture techniques. They will work independently in designing experiments and determining laboratory priorities, and be a partner with the PI in writing research proposals, reports, and manuscripts. The position requires a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Molecular Biology, and several years of postdoctoral experience in molecular and cellular biology or equivalent. Specific qualities include the abilities to: Perform the full range of benchtop and biochemical and cell biology techniques Design and plan experiments Work independently and effectively on several projects simultaneously Train and supervise lab personnel Collaborate effectively with other labs and facilities Prepare and write manuscripts, reports, and proposals Order, stock, prepare and inventory supplies and chemicals and reagents Make decisions about maintenance of equipment and purchase of equipment and supplies Laboratory Safety Officer, and maintenance and implementation of Laboratory Safety Plan Qualifications Basic qualifications
