Wagner Logistics, a Top 50 Third Party Logistics company providing supply chain services including distribution center management, warehousing, transportation, and order fulfillment is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor to join our Fulfillment team at 1201 E. 12th Ave., North Kansas City, MO. This is a Monday-Friday ( and some Saturdays) position working 7:30 am to 4:30 pm or until the needs of the business are met.

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising all warehouse activities for his/her team as directed by the Warehouse Manager. The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for supervising the inventory accuracy, receiving, warehousing and shipping of product in a manner consistent with service and cost control objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Shipping/Receiving

Coordinate inbound and outbound scheduling with transportation providers. Supervise and coordinate unloading of inbound shipments, orderly stacking of product, and the picking and staging of outbound shipments, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and productivity. Oversee the verification of inbound/outbound documents with drivers, ensuring that all shipments are counted accurately and inspected for damage.

Customer Service

Maintain a complete understanding of customer service requirements and communicate standards to all personnel. Respond to customer requests or concerns in a timely and professional manner.

Equipment

Ensure the efficient and safe operation of all material handling equipment. Place unsafe equipment out of service and arrange for the necessary repairs.

Scheduling

Establish work schedules for assigned personnel. Responsible for the management of employee time and attendance in the payroll management system. Ensure the work is assigned effectively and completed in a timely fashion. Schedule overtime when necessary to meet customer service requirements and as directed by the Operations Manager or Warehouse Manager.

Storage, Inventory

Maintain a proficient knowledge of the warehouse management system. Maintain the product locator system in strict accordance with the prescribed procedures. Ensure the optimal utilization of space through warehouse consolidation. Rotate product as required by the customer. Ensure the integrity of the inventory and assist in conducting physical inventories.

Safety, Sanitation, Security

Ensure strict compliance with the safety and security policies and procedures necessary to protect the wellbeing of employees, customers and visitors along with protecting the security of inventory, company equipment and property. Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area. Promote safe working habits and enforce the company safety rules and policies. Conduct periodic safety meetings. Perform a minimum of one safety contact each week. Conduct accident and personal injury investigations. Conduct operations in compliance with local, state and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.

People Management

Direct the operations of the warehouse to achieve prescribed productivity objectives and performance metrics in accordance with best practices (SOP). Apply sound communication and motivational techniques in supervising, counseling, and disciplining subordinates. Enforce the Company Rules of Conduct. Participate in the performance appraisal process and evaluate personnel for training needs, wage increases and promotions. Participate in the hiring and selection of warehouse personnel.

Records

Complete required records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion. Process customer returns in the prescribed manner.

Communications

Conduct shift meetings and keep warehouse personnel informed of information they need to know. Act as liaison between employees and top management. Interact with the warehouse management and customer service team, customers and vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education (preferred level): Partial college, Bachelor degree preferred.

Experien ce (the minimum level of direct experience in a similar position): Two or more years of supervisor experience in a warehouse or similar environment.

Knowledge/Experience/Skills:


  • Work history of successful, effective supervisory roles in warehouse operations.
  • Experience working in a 3PL environment and communicating with the Customer preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, keyboard and personal computer proficiency, and warehouse management systems (SAP).
  • Experience with multiple types of mechanized material handling equipment is required. Forklift certification is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective skills in planning, staffing, team building, organizing, controlling, training, communicating and problem solving are required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills are required.
  • Political savvy and diplomacy is a must.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:


  • Ability to stand, sit, squat, crawl, bend, twist and/or kneel for up to 12-hour periods of time and repetitively
  • Capability to navigate through narrow, confined spaces
  • Work near or on top of sloping, uneven and/or slippery surfaces
  • Exposure to varying temperatures: heat, cold, wet, damp, drafty
  • Possible exposure to areas with high noise levels that may require hearing protection
  • Use hands and fingers to grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying sizes and weights
  • Utilize muscles to lift, push, pull or carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds
