Software Development Internship - Summer 2025

As a Software Development Intern, you will be responsible for providing hands-on experience with real projects in software development. You will work to develop new software within existing code bases: learn existing architecture, develop new features, and deliver bug fixes for current software. You will work within an existing team and collaborate with them to deliver on projects. Other responsibilities include software documentation and learning client requirements while researching and designing new software.
This position is required to be onsite at our West Des Moines, IA office.

Essential Functions
  • You will design and develop new reports, programs, and other software according to departmental and Company guidelines. You will design and code modifications to existing software and will test all code written or modified. You will partner with the testing team for regression and quality assurance testing.
  • You will analyze, research, and design solutions by analyzing identifiable factors. You may collaborate with more experienced staff or outside vendors to facilitate resolving issues.
  • You will write or revise system and operation documentation for new and existing programs and systems in accordance with Telligen and client standards.
  • You will assist the programming staff in the design and development of new technologies and may assist less experienced programming staff as needed.
  • You will participate in the review of end-user requirements and in the planning, researching, designing, and evaluation of new software.
Requirements
  • Must be currently enrolled in an Iowa college or university seeking a degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or a related field.
  • Basic Java skills required.
  • Current GPA of 3.0 or higher required.
  • Must be within two years of graduation (Junior or Senior)
  • Must be available to work 40 hours per week over the summer.
  • Must be onsite at our West Des Moines, IA office.
