Position Summary

The Service Manager, Hydrogen is responsible for overseeing GenFuel service and commissioning activities for the hydrogen fueling infrastructure at customer locations. The service manager will have a team of field service engineers to manage in day-to-day operations. This position will work with multiple teams including other Plug Power and 3rd party service agencies, engineering, supply chain, and project management teams. In addition to internal communication, this position will interface with industrial gas companies, local and federal agencies, contractors, suppliers and customers. The ideal candidate for this role possesses strong interpersonal skills, management or leadership experience, and is capable of building strong cross-functional partnerships.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of Plug Power products and related hydrogen infrastructure system designs and functionality.
  • Function as the subject matter expert in managing all commissioning and operational facets of installed hydrogen infrastructure systems at customer sites.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for Plug Power Technical Service and Field Service Engineers as needed.
  • Analyze, interpret and prepare system performance and historical data for customers or internal use.
  • Conduct and direct peer review of procedures, tests and policies as developed..
  • Orchestrate implementation of peer-reviewed procedures, tests, and policies and follow through to completion.
  • Work jointly with other Plug Power agencies in improving system reliability/performance.
  • Collaborate with Plug Power engineering in developing temporary and demonstration fueling systems..
  • Guide and direct the strategic and operational uses of high-pressure tube trailer assets.
  • Develop and maintain contractual agreements with suppliers for operationally necessary services.
  • Coordinate the planning and execution of multi-agency hydrogen system service, to include: industrial gas companies, permitting agencies, contractors, and all others as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal project teams as necessary for hydrogen deployments; be proactive in alignment of efforts to achieve project timetables.
  • Manage service/commissioning project schedules and resolve problems as necessary to meet contractual obligations.
  • Evaluate service/commissioning training needs and coordinate/schedule training of field service personnel.
  • Manage and guide service engineering team daily schedules, travel, company purchasing and reconciliation, paid time off (PTO) and benefits.
  • Foster development of field service engineers by providing and coordinating opportunities for technical growth.
  • Support development of spare parts lists of system components.
  • Establish and/or manage GenFuel systems component stocking levels on site and in spare parts warehouses.
  • Lead efforts to develop GenFuel service and commissioning training material for all applicable GenFuel service personnel.
  • Serve as the customer escalation point for hydrogen infrastructure concerns.
  • Serve as the hydrogen system support focal point for Regional Service Managers.
  • Work directly with service coordinators to prioritize resources as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with internal service team members to keep tasks and service on scheduled timelines.
  • Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • BS degree in engineering: mechanical, electrical or other applicable field of study.
  • A minimum of five (5) years working experience in project/service functions; as part of a service environment
  • Must have Experience in the following spheres of activity:
  • Hydrogen and/or hydrogen fuel cells
  • Cryogenic industry
  • High pressure systems (250 Bar and up)
  • Gas processing and/or dispensing equipment
  • Minimum of three (3) years management and/or supervisory experience
  • Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including, but not limited to: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task effectively.
  • Ability to role model high standards of professionalism.
  • Excellent follow-through.
  • Must be driven and self-motivated.

Estimated Base Salary Range:

$96,800.00 - $154,900.00
