Position Description As a part of our global Aftermarket service team the Aftermarket engineer provides technical and engineering support to other internal departments, primarily the Spares, Field Service, and Overhaul & Repair departments. The Aftermarket engineer will become technically familiar with all Sundyne products and will be the primary contact for the Aftermarket team's questions that require more engineering and technical knowledge to answer. In this role the Aftermarket Engineer will also be responsible to assist end users with engineering related issues with their units and provide feedback on how to fix the issue(s). Also, the engineer will be responsible for generating rerate proposals that are competitive and have proper hydraulics to achieve new conditions. The intent is to have the engineering resource within the Aftermarket group to support the department's daily needs, and thus minimize the need to rely on other departments for technical expertise. Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure customer satisfaction is achieved and maintained by delivering exceptional customer service to our customers (internal and external) and channel partners
- Communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of job site and internal department personnel
- Acquire technical knowledge of all Sundyne products to include sizing and conversions of units, assembly and disassembly procedures, and utilization of various engineering programs
- Generate rerate quotes that are competitive with the market as well is properly sized for the new application
- Provide the daily technical/product support for the Aftermarket departments
- Ability to work on multiple high priority jobs at the same time
- Perform job functions following all safety regulations and processes and take all required Sundyne job safety training courses
- Timely and accurate submittal of all required paperwork
- Completion of specific projects assigned during the year
- Assist in part compatibility from other Sundyne affiliates to Sundyne Arvada made parts. This can include assisting in the engineering design of new components or finding suitable engineered replacements
Skills & Responsibilities
- Will be dedicated to meet short deadlines and manage multiple customer issues simultaneously with a high degree of ownership for timely and accurate completion
- Will have strong attention to detail, and a high degree of focus on customer satisfaction
- Self-directed with the ability to work independently and with a high level of confidence
- Prepare technical proposals complete with data sheets, performance curves, lube systems, seal systems and other auxiliary systems
- Collaborate with internal departments assisting in quotation and proposal development
- Review customer purchase orders ensuring compliance with quoted equipment and specifications
- Technical support answering question regarding the proposal, modify proposals as needed, and participate in technical discussions to close orders
- Interface with vendors as needed to quote appropriate equipment
- Provide the daily technical/product support for the Aftermarket departments
- Will have mechanical aptitude
- Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, and preferably in CAD or Solidworks
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric dimensions and tolerances)
- Ability to read blueprints and P&IDs (Piping and instrumentation diagrams)
- Assist in part compatibility from other Sundyne affiliates to Sundyne Arvada made parts. This can include assisting in the engineering design of new components or finding suitable engineered replacements
Qualifications
- Four-year college degree or technical training
- Bachelor's in mechanical, chemical, or related engineering degree
- Approximately 3 years related rotating equipment experience preferred
- Minimum 7 years experience with non-degree
- Preferred experience of 3-5 years working within an industrial manufacturing environment
- Self-directed, working both independently and collaboratively with other team members
- Ability to work well under pressure within a reactive type role
- Flexibility to work multiple projects at varying stages of completion and multitask
- Position may require travel to support sales channel and customers (less than 5%)
- Preferred CAD software experience
