Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Digital Product Manager! About the role In this role, you will be responsible for developing the vision, strategy, and roadmap for data engineering ensuring alignment with Symetra's broader product vision and objectives. Working closely with the Data Engineering Director of Engineering, you will use your business and technical skills, to manage the product portfolio lifecycle. You will build consensus with business, engineering, data science, and other product managers using a variety of product development research techniques and product management frameworks to ensure desired outcomes are achieved. What you will do
- Product Strategy: Develop, document, and communicate the product strategy (with guidance), grounded in enterprise strategic goals and broader product vision. Collaborate closely with customers and business partners to define long term outcomes aligned to business goals. Partner with domain experts to discover the best solutions for customer problems. Collaborate with technology partners and/or vendors to explore and communicate technical possibilities and draft recommended and alternative options.
- Technical Execution: Use experience with Agile methodologies to enable delivery of high-quality, sustainable solutions. Partner with product owner to ensure the team has a healthy product backlog with clear, measurable outcomes. Support delivery teams, encouraging standard processes to ensure technical stewardship (pipeline, infrastructure, security, operations, service management), high quality and reliability. Ensure policies and standards are followed for definition, architecture, compliance, risk management, security, deployment, procurement, and support. Handle issues and risks. Regularly reflect with the team to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
- Communication: Act as primary contact and authority on product domain. Communicate effectively and frequently with multiple internal and cross functional teams to evangelize ideas, product vision, escalate risks/dependencies, and product roadmap.
- Data-focused: Evaluate, analyze, understand, interpret, and communicate insights derived from data. Ensure measurement capabilities are in place to advise product decisions. Work with senior product people to measure and quantify impact. Use qualitative and quantitative data from appropriate sources to support decision making and find opportunities.
- Leadership: Leverage influence and credibility to lead high performing teams. Evangelize the product vision. Appropriately use UX design, event storming, user research, and product development techniques. Maintain current knowledge of industry and technology trends. Display Symetra's Leadership Commitments.
- Professional Development: Use learning events and online learning opportunities to develop and enhance strengths related to this role. Participate in Community of Practice events and asynchronous activities.

Compensation Salary Range: $113,700 - $189,400 plus eligibility for annual bonus program Who You Are
- Bachelor's degree preferred. High school diploma required.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Product Manager or Product Owner representing business need, priorities, and technical solutions.
- Proven understanding of enterprise systems specific in data engineering and APIs
- 2+ years of experience working as a member of an agile team.
- 1+ year of experience working within a highly regulated industry and/or advanced domain knowledge.
- Analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with an ability to take ambiguous information and organize into meaningful facts.
- Adept influence, negotiation, and consensus building skills.
- Fosters a collaborative working environment built on trust with teams across the organization.
- Some travel required.
