Honeybee Robotics is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer. In this role you will be interfacing with customers and inter-disciplinary project teams to develop electrical components and avionics systems. You are responsible for flight avionics development, sample acquisition, handling devices, and other instruments used in planetary exploration and space applications. In this role you'll interface with mechanical design, test, systems, integration, software and control engineering disciplines throughout the entire product lifecycle from conception to flight ready hardware.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical leader within the organization, mentoring junior engineers and refining/defining standardized processes.
  • Define and execute tests at the integrated assembly level in avionics development labs, environmental test labs, radiation test labs and vendor test labs
  • Apply technical expertise to problem solving throughout product lifecycle, including design review support and verification planning and execution, scheduling, etc.
  • Collaborate with avionics product development team members to identify current technology capabilities, risks, opportunities and challenges and identify and develop solutions
  • Harness design and assembly instructions for high-reliability applications
  • Electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) design and documentation
  • Design, manufacturing, and checkout of custom high-reliability PCBs for various avionics applications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of developing and testing complex hardware equipment over the entire product lifecycle
  • Passion for hands-on problem solving and avionics integration and test
  • Ability to work independently on rapid development programs
  • Demonstrate a strong solid understanding of electronics product development with expertise in systems integration
  • Familiarity with use of complex computational devices (combinational and sequential logic) to monitor sensors and drive actuators, including design and verification
  • Highly organized, safety and quality conscious, with excellent technical written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in related engineering or technical field
  • 7+ years of experience in developing hardware across entire product lifecycle.
  • Experience developing and testing complex electronic systems combining hardware, firmware, and software
  • Experience leading the development and testing of embedded/motorized/power systems
  • Experience doing Worst-case analysis, circuit Finite Element Analysis, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Familiarity with EEE-INST-002 parts classification, selection of radiation-hardness-assured components, and radiation-mitigation strategies
  • Proficiency with scripting; programming and analysis/modeling tools: Python, Linux/Windows shell scripting; assembly language, C, C++; MATLAB / Simulink / SPICE (or similar)
  • Experience using Altium to design complex printed circuit boards.

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $126,898.00-$177,656.85
