National Grid is hiring an Engineer for our engaged and collaborative Gas Asset Engineering Distribution NE department in Waltham, MA. This is a Hybrid Role, 2-3 times a week in the office. Gas Asset and Distribution Engineering is responsible for managing over 11,000 miles of gas distribution mains and over 760,000 gas services in the Massachusetts service territory. The position encompasses a range of responsibilities including but not limited to managing budgets for large scale engineering projects and programs; internal procedure development, reviews, and updates; facility/integrity assessment; development and management of risk mitigation programs; ensuring other National Grid business units are provided with the appropriate technical expertise to meet strategic requirements. Key Accountabilities
* Monitor and track Capital and Operation & Maintenance expenses for various programs * Gather and analyze data within one area using pre-determined tools, methods and formats in order to support the department's decision-making process. * Stay current with in relevant policies and regulatory requirements. * Test and challenge existing policies/procedures and highlight areas for improvement to ensure they are robust. * Collaborate with resource planning, project management to ensure completion of capital projects. * Develop processes and plans to ensure compliance programs are completed in a timely manner. * Provide input into program development and execution associated with Field Operations. * Provide technical knowledge as required in support of Company operations. Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
* Ability to operate and build relationships across all levels of the organization. * Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. * Work in a Project Management team environment. * Adapts approach and considers what is important to the audience and tailor message accordingly. * Actively builds and maintains a network of relationships, outside normal business contacts. * Takes personal responsibility for correcting problems in a timely manner. * Proactively makes changes to improve performance, efficiency and effectiveness of processes, for example challenge existing engineering procedures and highlight areas for improvement. * Is receptive to change and is willing to evaluate ideas or opinions based on new information or contrary evidence. Qualifications
* A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or applied science from an ABET accredited School. * Knowledge of federal, and state regulations is a plus. * Proficient with PC software applications including the Microsoft Office suite. * FE certificate preferred. * Need to possess a driver's license with safe driving history required More Information Salary $101k- $119k a year This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
