Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Pediatric and Public Health provides oral health care for individuals from infancy through adolescence, and promotes the prevention of oral disease.
Position Summary
The scope of work of this research assistant in the field of oral epidemiology is to assist in all phases of ongoing studies of the interplay of social determinants of health, oral health behaviors and early childhood oral health. This research assistant will be involved in all phases of research projects including proposal writing, IRB submission and correspondence, literature review, data collection and quality control, developing semi-structured interviews for qualitative research, data summaries, data analysis (both quantitative and qualitative research), preparation of manuscripts, scientific presentations, and submission to journals for eventual publication. The applicant is preferred to have experience in qualitative research, interact with a large population of Spanish-speaking population therefore a bilingual (Spanish-english) applicant is preferred. Some interactions are expected to happen within the context of a pediatric dentistry clinic.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Proposal writing, IRB submission, data collection and analysis (both quantitative and qualitative), interpretation, report writing, manuscript writing and submission.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Course work in public health (or related areas), and research in the field is preferrable. Experience in qualitative research. Experience with software for quantitative and qualitative research. Bilingual (Spanish-English).
