Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Associate Research Coordinator.
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Associate Research Coordinator within the NYU Grossman School of Medicine's Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine's Research Division. In this role, the successful candidate will directly support the research portfolio of Dr. Ambrose H. Wong. Dr. Wong's research focuses on public health, systems science, and the application of technology and patient-centered approaches to address workplace violence and improve behavioral healthcare in emergency settings. The Associate Research Coordinator will assist in data collection/analysis, patient/participant recruitment, and implementation of scientific activities across Dr. Wongs multidisciplinary projects and sub-projects. The coordinator will recruit study participants and ensure that follow up are completed per protocol requirements. They will also conduct structured interviews and focus groups with participants, record and compile information related to quantitative and qualitative research data, code data according to research specifications, and process and summarize data using scientific or statistical techniques. Further they may assist in data interpretation and analyses, report on research activity status and assist in designing, developing, and modifying study procedures or survey instruments.
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of research study, study rationale, study subject, and clinical procedures associated with the study.
- Screens potential patients/participants for eligibility to the study, conducts informed consent process, and collects data through site or home visit intakes, library research, structured interviews or through other means.
- Collaborates with various personnel that may be involved in assisting with specific aspects in the study.
- Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures of the host institution where the study is being conducted and the regulatory requirements such as IRB and other approvals if necessary.
- Uses available resources and established procedures to identify problems for quick resolution.
- Processes and summarizes data using scientific or statistical techniques and assists in data interpretation and analyses.
- Orders and maintains inventory of supplies.
- Organizes project materials and leads logistical tasks related to project administration, including notetaking during collaborator research meetings, contacting relevant stakeholders/parties, and tracking action items for scientific goals of the project.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree in life sciences, allied health or equivalent in a related discipline and 0-1 years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills. Must be able to work under the direction of supervision. Ability to operate research related equipment. Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as World, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications. Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. Time management skills and ability to work well under pressure. Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in a related field. Experience recruiting subjects and knowledge of clinical trial processes, experimental design and statistics. Ability to recruit in emergency department at all hours preferred, including overnight hours and weekends/evenings. Experience with quantitative data analysis (R and SPSS) and qualitative research methods. Fluency in conversational and health-related Spanish. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
