Spanning six floors, this advanced facility is home to key clinical programs and offers specialized diagnostic, treatment, and surgical services. DESCRIPTION

Working under general direction, serves as the Lead Sonographer to senior and principal ultrasound technologists serving as a department resource ensuring diagnostic ultrasound examinations are completed according to established protocols. Acts as a subject expert in maternal fetal ultrasound and is able to assist other sonographers as needed. Manage the daily operations and flow planning of the department including approval of same day add-ons and future overbooking of the schedule. Coordinates daily workflow and staff assignments, as well as flex staff out when the volume goes down. Contributes to, and participates in, work organization, quality improvement projects, and scheduling of staff. Serves as departmental point person for bio-med and facilities engineering. Responsible for training staff and monitoring adherence to our internal imaging protocols. Ensures compliance with medical center policies and regulatory guidelines. Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent department operations. Demonstrates effective communication and conflict resolution skills with patients, coworkers, physicians and all other health care members. Assists Clinic Manager and Supervisor with staff meetings, hiring, performance evaluation feedback, and other projects as needed. Floats within department as needed. Floats to specialty unit (if qualified). Takes a leadership role when supervisor is not present. Takes on a lead role in scheduling ultrasound student rotations and providing clinical training as determined by the department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in OB/GYN
  • RDMS or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in Fetal Echocardiography
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of recent experience as a sonographer in a maternal fetal medicine (fetal) ultrasound setting.
  • Thorough knowledge of ultrasound physical principles and instrumentation.
  • High level knowledge of sonographic assessment of maternal-fetal conditions including a thorough understanding of fetal anatomy, physiology, anomalies, and high risk maternal factors.
  • Experience performing 12-14 week detailed anatomy scans per AIUM guidelines.
  • Commitment to continued education in MFM ultrasound by obtaining at least 20 CMEs every 36 months in detailed OB ultrasound and/or fetal echocardiography.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance related to ultrasound image quality.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and infection control guidelines.
  • Ability to contribute to team decisions on department protocols, schedule design, peer selection, evaluation, coaching, and equipment and supply selection.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience in a lead sonographer role in a maternal-Fetal medicine practice.
  • Nuchal Translucency Quality Review (NTQR) Certification or equivalent (current or expired)
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $155,326 - $171,446 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $74.39 - $82.11

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
