  • Lead the coordination and execution of the Annual Physical Inventory, organizing staff, establishing procedures, and ensuring all inventory is accounted for and reconciled against system records annually.

  • Maintain current and accurate ABX/XYZ classification codes to effectively manage inventory based on turnover rates, demand variability, and value, thereby optimizing stock levels and storage space.

  • Collaborate with procurement to optimize inventory purchasing by sharing inventory performance data, forecasting needs, and aligning purchase orders with demand to minimize excess stock and shortages.

  • Establish and enforce SOX compliance procedures to ensure inventory management practices meet the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, reducing risk and promoting transparency in financial reporting.

  • Adhere to and enforce Accounting LOA (Limitation of Authority) standards by ensuring all inventory-related financial transactions are approved at the appropriate levels to maintain financial controls and prevent unauthorized spending.

  • Drive continuous improvement projects within the inventory process by identifying inefficiencies, proposing solutions, and leading cross-functional teams to implement changes that enhance performance and reduce waste.

  • Lead root cause analysis for inventory discrepancies by investigating the underlying causes of variances, developing corrective actions, and preventing recurrence to improve overall inventory accuracy.

  • Collaborate with customer service to resolve inventory-related issues, such as stockouts or misshipments, ensuring customer satisfaction and maintaining accurate inventory levels.

  • Champion the use of Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies in inventory management to streamline processes, eliminate non-value-added activities, and reduce variability in inventory handling.

  • Design and oversee a returns management process for inventory, creating guidelines for handling returned goods, processing refunds or replacements efficiently, and reintegrating items into inventory where appropriate.

  • Coordinate end-of-life strategies for obsolete inventory by identifying outdated stock, determining disposal or liquidation options, and minimizing the financial impact of inventory obsolescence on the company.
