Job # EE25022 Job Title Development Engineer -Modeling & Simulation Technology Office Location Houston, TX preferred Business Unit/Department Technology/Product Development Sales Territory, if applicable N/A General Role Description Develop and validate models and simulations of inverter-based resources, specifically focusing on solar and battery systems. Ensure that products meet interconnection requirements and perform optimally in real-world applications. Role Accountabilities - Identify new technologies that have the potential to address the present, but unfilled, needs of our clients, or that create demand as a direct result of significant performance improvements that will provide a level of direct benefit to our clients sufficient to differentiate the Company from our competitors - Evaluate the feasibility, cost, and benefits of incorporating new technologies in the Company's systems and products - Incorporate selected technologies into the Company's power products in cooperation with Company, parent company, and third-party development teams - Define modifications to existing tools, and features of new tools, that are necessary to support engineering and commissioning of products that incorporate selected technologies - Establish and maintain effective working relationships and productive communication with parent company to facilitate cooperation and coordination in design and development planning and project execution - Provide technical consulting, coaching, and training to group company engineering and commissioning team members to transfer knowledge of Company process and product solutions and ensure successful project execution, as assigned - Provide technical support to the business unit sales team in the areas of technical presentations, and proposal review and advice, as assigned - Develop electromagnetic transient and positive sequence models and simulations of inverter-based resources - Conduct validation testing to ensure models accurately represent actual product response. - Conduct simulation studies to verify that products meet interconnection requirements. - Develop simulations of utility scale renewable energy power plants including high penetration scenarios - Identify new interconnection requirements and develop specifications for product design. - Provide technical support to the engineering and technical services team - Provide recommendations for changes to applications of product at site by collecting and analyzing field data, as requested General Employee Accountabilities - Bring full effort to bear on tasks assigned by manager - Give manager best advice - Give earliest notice when work cannot be delivered as specified - Cooperate and collaborate with peers and interact cross-organizationally as specified by manager - Exemplify Company Core Values: Integrity, Client Focus, Team Orientation, and Personal Commitment - Comply with all Company policies, practices, and procedures and all regulations and laws - Recommend viable improvements proactively - Ensure effective utilization of business tools and processes Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with emphasis on power systems or equivalent via education and/or work experience - 2 years of experience in modeling and simulations using PSCAD, PSS/E, PSLF or equivalent - Demonstrated software programming skills using C++, Fortan or modeling languages - Demonstrated innovative problem-solving skills - Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts - Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills - Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility - Proficiency in MS Office - Availability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 20% of the time, often with limited notice Preferred Qualifications - Master's or PhD in electrical engineering with a concentration in controls, modeling and simulation of electrical systems - Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with interpretation and application of interconnection requirements and standards such as IEEE 2800, IEEE 1547, NOGRR 245. - Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with power electronics-based power conversion technology and applications - Demonstrated experience in power electronics based New Product Development Link to TMEIC Corporation Americas website: https://www.tmeic.com/.
