The Director of Distribution responsible for procuring and distributing all material and accessories for production to meet long-term corporate goals of supply chain metrics. The position will also be responsible for the accuracy of inventoried items for all manufacturing facilities and manage day to day operations at the corporate distribution warehouse and at all outstate locations. The position will be hands on and will work on cross functional teams across multiple plants. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while ensuring accuracy. This position reports to the Vice President of Operations. WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
- Development of Supply Chain strategies
- Reviews schedules and work orders to ensure inventory levels, budget parameters, and workflow processes support shipment and delivery goals.
- Develop tactical plans to meet daily pull signals from warehouses and plants. Schedule labor and transportation to meet established materials lead times.
- Manage inventory levels throughout the organization and a 98% cycle count accuracy at all locations.
- Schedule procurement and receipt of purchased items and company manufactured products for the distribution warehouse or plant level warehouses.
- Work within the Open Order System of Purchase (blanket) orders. Expedite orders as required.
- Implement and deploy lean principles to introduce and manage process improvements and cost reductions.
- Produce, maintain and track SOPs as required. Train personnel on new or revised SOPs.
- Travel to out of state manufacturing locations and to vendors will be required.
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field, or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential job functions
- 10+ years of experience in logistics, inventory control & planning, cycle count, and distribution management
- Experience with Inventory Control, Strategic Planning, Supply Chains, Warehouse Operations and Manufacturing Scheduling is required
- Experience with A3 management and pull systems
- Lean Manufacturing Experience (Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Kaizen, Six Sigma)
- AS-400 / Mapics / Powerlink experience is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent analytical, leadership and facilitation skills
- Ability to interact efficiently with various levels in the organization
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Plan and prioritize personal workload effectively- create personal timing plans and manage internal/external workload accordingly
- Ability to work well with a diverse team
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Must be adaptable to a fast-paced environment and comfortable with continuous process improvement.
- Travel required and may occasionally need to work outside normal business hours on short notice.
