The Opportunity

The School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University has an immediate opening for a Program Coordinator - Coord Program I in the Center for Advanced Human Resources (CAHRS) in the Extension/Outreach Division. The Program Coordinator supports the Academic Director and Executive Director of Cornell's Center for Advanced Human Resource Studies (CAHRS) in all operations of the department.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking people who appreciate and will take ownership in the following, and not limited to:

  • Developing and managing the department budget and financial reporting.
  • Ensuring all programming is successfully coordinated and delivered (partner meetings/working groups/webcasts/advisory board meetings/executive roundtables).
  • Playing a key role in partner company engagement by being the primary liaison between CAHRS, partner companies, Cornell faculty, and administrators and providing exceptional customer service to all stakeholders.
  • Lead marketing and communication needs and developing CAHRS reporting for Outreach, ILR, and Partner communication purposes.
  • Oversee and coordinate development and enhancement of the CAHRS website and database, producing reports as needed.

We require these qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, with two to four years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Three to five years of professional experience in program, project or event management, in an academic or corporate setting.
  • Demonstrated significant experience in project and financial management, including budget forecast and tracking and collection and analysis of group performance metrics on finances, business development.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills to manage interactions and communication with a diverse group of constituents.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple tasks within a matrix organization while working simultaneously under pressure within a fast-paced, office environment.
  • Must possess the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational, logistical and scheduling skills to address extended, complex projects timelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion, confidentiality and independent judgment.
  • Ability to take initiative and be a pro-active team member by recognizing or anticipating needs and addressing them.
  • Experience in diplomatically dealing with business professionals, academic faculty and client executives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a level of proficiency needed for publishable documents or executive client interface.
  • Expertise in Microsoft products including MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.

  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

You will be a top candidate with our preferred qualifications

  • Minimum four to five years of experience with project, financial and event management in an office setting preferably in higher education.
  • Prior experience working with HTML or other web development tools to support program content management.
  • Familiarity with virtual learning platforms, technologies and webcasts using Zoom and Adobe Connect.
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar Customer Relationship Management systems.
  • Knowledge of eShop purchasing system.
  • Experience working across various office locations and virtually, beyond U.S. borders is a plus.
  • Experienced with survey software.

This is a full-time, hybrid position located in Ithaca, NY, within the ILR School on the campus of Cornell University, with the flexibility to work a 3:2 campus to home hybrid schedule.
