Description
The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for the design, development, improvement and implementation of high-performance integrated cable assemblies for Data Bus, RF and point to point harnesses processes. Daily provision of technical expertise or support related to manufacturing. Duties can include refining product designs to increase producibility, quality, or decrease costs to include troubleshooting. Responsible for taking customer needs or market opportunities and translating them into compliant, cost-effective designs.
- Interpret and convert customer prints for Data Bus, RF, Point-to-Point wire harnesses to manufacturing documentation for building high quality products
- Provide technical information resource in the creation of BOM, sources of supply, tooling and procedures for assembly
- Understands internal design and documentation methodologies to create new products
- Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve manufacturing processes or products or to reduce costs, using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.
- Create accurate, clear, and complete documentation.
- Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product, troubleshooting issues, devising solutions to existing manufacturing problems, establishing standards and confirming manufacturing processes
- Recommend corrective or preventive actions to assure or improve product quality or reliability.
- Provide decision-making information by calculating labor and material costs and estimating future requirements.
- Prepare documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures.
- Manages workload based on demands within PLI ETR system and production needs
- Ensure adherence to safety rules and practices.

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
- 5-10 years' experience in design and manufacturing of wiring harnesses and interconnects preferably in Aerospace Manufacturing environment
- Advanced experience in SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD, or other 3D modeling software
- Knowledgeable in industry drawing standards and Military Specifications
- MIL STD and ASTM STD knowledge for piece part documentation
- Possess strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Programs.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES AND OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS:
- Preferred knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, Quality Management Systems, IPC and J-STD standards and Lean experience.
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision. Assignments are received in the form of results expected, due dates and general procedures to follow.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional correspondence, policies, and procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Ability to determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Sets good examples for others, participates in continuous improvement efforts, considers the impact on the customer when making decisions and uses judgment and tact.
