Description

Sigma Defense is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our engineering team in Perry, GA. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Mechanical Engineering practices and contribute to the development of new Sigma Defense products.
The ideal candidate is currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering with a strong interest in Computer-Aided Design. The candidate should have a basic understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles and a desire to learn and grow in a dynamic environment.

Requirements
  • Some familiarity with SolidWorks software.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Basic understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles.

Education Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering.

Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive):

  • Assist in the preparation of manufacturing drawings to ensure the document contains all pertinent information the manufacturer needs to successfully complete the job.
  • Collaborate with the production team to understand current challenges faced in the production process and offer solutions that produce a better-quality product, increase assembly efficiency, and/or reduce overall cost of the product.
  • Assist with part/assembly design with the use of SolidWorks CAD software.
  • Coordinate with engineering team to submit Purchase Request Forms for custom/off-the-shelf parts.
  • Participate in the creation of assembly guides to be used by the production team.
  • Contribute to the prototyping process by way of 3D printing or other means and assess the viability of the prototyped piece.
  • Monitor the Engineering Planner and complete assigned projects on or before the due date.

Compensation: $15 - $20 per hour.
