Location: Portland, OR
Job Type: Full-time, On-site
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

Now, we're seeking a hands-on, highly skilled technician to own and operate our Prototype Shop - a key resource for our New Product Development (NPD) teams. If you thrive in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment and love bringing ideas to life, we want to hear from you!

What You'll Do

  • Lead the Proto Shop: Manage the full operation of the Gerber Prototype Shop, supporting the design and development of cutting-edge products.
  • Manufacture & Fabricate: Create and modify new and existing parts using CNC, manual mills, lathes, water jets, surface grinders, Wire EDM, and more.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with engineers and designers to translate concepts into tangible prototypes.
  • CAD/CAM Mastery: Program advanced parts and create work-holding fixtures to ensure precision and quality.
  • Quality Assurance: Use measurement instruments to verify parts meet required specifications.
  • Rapid Prototyping: Support daily 3D printing activities to accelerate product iteration.
  • Maintain Excellence: Keep the shop floor organized, ensure equipment is well-maintained, and provide training and mentorship to other team members.

What You Bring

  • Associate's Degree in Manufacturing or Machining Technology or equivalent experience (High School Diploma + 5 years of relevant machining and/or fabrication experience).
  • Expertise in 2D/3D machining methods and fabrication using metals, plastics, and other materials.
  • Advanced proficiency in operating multi-axis vertical mills and lathes (both CNC and manual).
  • Preferred experience with water jets, surface grinding, EDM, and sheet metal forming.
  • Strong knowledge of 3D CAM software (Mastercam and Esprit preferred).
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Leadership skills with the ability to train and mentor others.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
