The Role

As the Corporate Compliance Counsel, you will play a critical role in ensuring Curi Holdings and its subsidiaries adhere to corporate, regulatory, and privacy standards. You will collaborate with various business units to address compliance challenges, assess organizational risks, and foster a culture of compliance and ethical conduct throughout the organization. Your expertise will support our commitment to integrity and transparency in all operations. In this role, you will report to the Chief Legal Officer and manage the Privacy and Compliance Specialist.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate and Regulatory Compliance

* Maintain current knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards; effectively communicate necessary changes and implementations to stakeholders.

* Evaluate the organization's operations to identify risks associated with strategic activities and develop effective mitigation strategies.

* Design, facilitate, and oversee company-wide compliance training programs and ensure awareness and comprehension among team members.

* Ensure comprehensive documentation of the compliance program, including maintaining accurate records of the Annual Code of Conduct completion for all relevant personnel.

* Develop and draft corporate compliance policies, statements, and procedures to meet industry standards; ensure thorough documentation and accessibility of compliance policies for staff.

* Oversee the OFAC screening process and create comprehensive policies ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and risk management strategies.

* Collaborate with stakeholders to design training programs addressing fraud, waste, abuse, and escheatment processes; implement and oversee compliance with these trainings.

* Lead the investigation and documentation of internal complaints and compliance inquiries, acting as the primary point of contact for compliance questions within the organization.

* Manage and mentor compliance staff to achieve organizational compliance goals.

Privacy Compliance

* Monitor the enactment and enforcement of state and federal privacy laws and regulations; evaluate their impact on the organization and advise stakeholders accordingly.

* Collaborate with business leaders on strategic product and service development, ensuring compliance with applicable privacy laws.

* Oversee vendor compliance with internal standards and state/federal regulations, including conducting assessments of data processing activities and practices.

* Actively participate in the Incident Response Team, providing guidance on privacy matters and leading the evaluation and documentation of incident responses.

* Maintain collaborative relationships across departments to align business objectives with privacy regulatory requirements.

Regulatory Compliance

* Review and ensure the accuracy of advice provided to business leaders regarding the implications of proposed or enacted laws.

* Manage responses to regulatory inquiries and complaints, ensuring comprehensive recordkeeping and follow-up actions are documented.

* Provide proactive guidance to operations teams to ensure compliance with state requirements and organizational standards.

* Strong project management skills and a proactive approach to resolving compliance issues.

* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience in preparing and leading presentations.

* A strong sense of urgency and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.

* High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.

* Proven change leadership capabilities, with the ability to influence and motivate others.

* Demonstrated relationship-building skills and a creative approach to problem-solving.

* Experience in leading and managing teams across multiple locations.

* Ability to assess risk while considering the business impact in a dynamic environment.

Key Qualifications

* Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

* Admission to a state bar.

* Minimum of 10 years of corporate compliance experience required.

* Privacy certification preferred.
