Brief Summary of Job Duties: The CARE Prevention Specialist is responsible for the research, design, implementation, and evaluation of CARE's public health approach prevention and response of interpersonal violence on campus which includes sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking and harassment per federal guidelines outlined by the Center for Disease Control, the Office on Violence Against Women and apart of the state-funded Equity in Mental Health campus-wide initiative. Responsible for utilizing health education concepts and the socio-ecological theory of health promotions to address behavioral and cultural change to enhance divisional and departmental effectiveness. These health education strategies aim to ensure the physical and emotional safety of self and others, mitigate trauma exposure, and utilize an intersectional approach to create a welcoming environment for all identities. This position will regularly work on highly complex health and behavioral issues where analysis of information and culture require an in-depth analysis of a variety of factors. The CARE Prevention Specialist will implement and assess key prevention initiatives to address systemic causes of violence and meet federal, state, and UC system-wide regulations. The position will maintain valid California certification for legal privilege under the Evidence Codes 1035 and 1037 to maintain Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Confidentiality and mitigate risk to the institution. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in related area and/ or equivalent experience / training Thorough knowledge of the health promotion and education field and / or related education programs and services. Skills associated with both the development and delivery of diverse health education programs and services. Thorough knowledge associated with the design and delivery of health promotion and education programs. Requires effective interpersonal skills to deal with diverse client groups. Effective organizational skills. Interpersonal and diplomacy skills to identify and respond to organizational needs. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to analyze, interpret and respond to client needs through the development, implementation and delivery of health-related programs. Misconduct Disclosure Requirement: Job Functions and Percentages of Time: 30% Develop Bystander Intervention Curriculum Research, create, and deliver evidence-based bystander intervention training programs that address interpersonal violence, oppression, and other social issues of significant community impact. Apply knowledge of student development theories and education methodologies to engage diverse audiences effectively. Maintain and execute a bystander intervention train the trainer model and training schedule, ensuring timely workshops and presentations, focusing on Registered Campus Organizations. Develop expertise on the effectiveness of bystander intervention in the prevention of critical social issues such as sexual assault, intimate partner violence, racial justice, stalking/harassment, adverse childhood experiences, microaggressions, discrimination, identity oppression, substance misuse, and hazing. Stay informed on national trends and incorporate trauma-informed approaches into prevention initiatives through training and certifications. 50% Deliver Health Education & Evaluation Implement and assess educational programs and outreach activities to prevent interpersonal violence, create culture change, and foster a safer campus community. Deliver interactive presentations on violence prevention and CARE services to both local community agencies and campus departments. Develop the marketing strategy for health education to increase program recognition, adaptation of healthy behaviors, and oversee social norm campaigns. Manage the creation and dissemination of program materials and outreach tools. Coordinate logistics for events and workshops, including venue bookings, supply arrangements, and student staff support. Utilize strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and writing skills including the ability to conduct educational programs and training workshops in person and through remote modalities. Stay updated on best practices and methodologies for program evaluation, ensuring alignment with learning outcomes and research trends. Communicate and deliver reports regarding the activities, progress, and needs of the program unit to the Associate Director and Director. Create assessment tools to measure knowledge, attitudes, and behavior change at each level of the socioecological model to include individual, interpersonal, community, and systemic health interventions. Measure effectiveness and impact of health education programs through a lens of social justice, cultural competence, the intersection of identities, and empowerment of historically marginalized and underserved populations. Respond to disclosures of individuals in crisis, serve as a confidential point of contact, and refer individuals who disclose to appropriate campus or community resources. 20% Student Supervision & Leadership Serve as department representative to student groups, campus departments, academic departments, and community stakeholders to address inquiries, enhance programs, and provide progress updates. Implement strategies for mandatory education programs and publications to raise awareness of relevant issues, university protocols, and resources. Provide leadership and mentorship over a team of professionals, trainers, and peer educators. Execute established priorities, goals, and objectives, assess timelines and delegate assignments to student staff, manage resources including staffing and programmatic funds, to achieve goals, and implement programs.
