GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs neurodiagnostic procedures such as EEG, continuous video recording, evoked potentials and nerve conduction testing according to orders and departmental procedures. Prepares/positions patients, performs quality data acquisition and documentation and analyzes test results for decisions in provider notification. PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values. 2. Prepares and adjusts daily work schedule to accommodate neurodiagnostic procedures.. 3. Performs testing procedures such as EEGs, evoked potentials, continuous video recording and nerve conduction testing as assigned. 4. *Maintains equipment and supplies; troubleshoots if necessary. 5. *Completes documentation thoroughly and accurately. 6. Notifies appropriate personnel when unforeseen variances/incidences occur regarding patients or equipment. 7. Participates in quality initiatives and activities as assigned. 8. Evaluates the need for different interpersonal approaches and applies them according to patient age, emotional status and/or physical status. 9. Assists in moving patients before, during or after testing procedures. 10. Advances work knowledge by participating in continuing education inservices, reading periodicals/literature and seeking ongoing development opportunities. 11. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned. (Essential Job functions are marked with an asterisk "*". Attach Addendum for positions with slightly different roles or work-specific differences as needed. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Knowledge of general anatomy, medical terminology and related clerical procedures. 2. Knowledge of basic computer hardware equipment and software applications. 3. Ability to put patients and families at ease. 4. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. 5. Ability to react and perform work effectively under stressful and emergent situations. 6. Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision. 7. Ability to maintain accurate logs, reports and files. 8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel, medical staff, volunteer and ancillary departments including diverse patient populations. 9. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalency required. Minimum of two (2) years post-high school coursework in science or math required. Expectation to progress to EEG Technologist job class within 24 months of date of hire through successful completion of training and or Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R EEG.T.). OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS: Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (Physical Requirements are based on federal criteria and assigned by Human Resources upon review of the Principal Job Functions.)
