The basics of this position:

***THIS IS AN IN-PERSON, ON-SITE POSITION LOCATED IN ST. LOUIS, MO***
St. Louis Community College is currently seeking a full-time faculty to teach in the new Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care Program in the Health Sciences Division.

What you'll do:



  • Provides didactic, laboratory, and clinical education to students in respiratory care courses identified by the Program Director based on the faculty's background and interests.
    Actively participates in teaching related activities including updating course profiles, course syllabi, lab activities, assessments, and classroom evaluations.
    Assists with the modification and/or design of curriculum that meets the needs of the community of interest, as well as the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care.
    Maintains consistent and effective processes for both the initial and ongoing evaluation of all clinical sites, clinical instructors, and clinical preceptors to ensure that clinical resources and student supervision at each site are sufficient to facilitate achievement of program goals.
    Develops, coordinates, and evaluates the clinical instruction of students in the program on a continual basis.
    Holds clinical orientations and provides necessary training and testing to students.
    Provides clinical instructors and preceptors with orientation regarding their roles and responsibilities, the clinical policies
    and procedures of the program, and use of program clinical check-offs for student assessment, with training that promotes consistency among individuals who perform clinical evaluations.
    Assess returning students' proficiencies in the lab prior to allowing return to clinical.
    Creates and distributes the clinical schedules.
    Organizes and maintains all student records required for clinical sites.
    Prepares material related to clinical instruction for accreditation of the program by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care.
    Attends Advisory Committee, program, and division meetings.


Education, experience, and other requirements:

Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and hold a current Missouri Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
Must possess at least a master's degree, or are currently enrolled in a masters degree program from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).
* If currently enrolled in a Masters degree program, applicant must complete the degree within 2 years of the start date of employment*
Must have four (4) years experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, of which at least two (2) years should have been spent in clinical respiratory care.
Must have a minimum to two (2) years' experience teaching respiratory care students in an accredited respiratory care program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor.
