The Accounting Manager is a key contributor in the Finance organization, performing a wide range of tasks from preparing and booking journal entries in NetSuite, to reporting in the monthly and quarter-end close process. He/she will be involved in core general ledger accounting operations and other ad hoc analysis as required.

He/she is an accounting professional with experience in a fast-paced private or public company environment who has demonstrated experience supporting the accounting function and collaborating cross-functionally to meet the needs of a changing and growing business. This role offers opportunity for growth in a diverse set of areas including consolidations, taxes and revenue. This position reports to the Sr. Accounting Manager and is located in Brisbane, California.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly journal entries, accounts reconciliations and related supporting work papers.
  • Work on OPEX accrual, Prepaid Expense, Fixed Assets, Expense Allocations and Consolidations processes. Assist with various tax and regulatory reporting and filings
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of the close-related accounting process, account analyses, roll forwards, and reconciliations of assigned general ledger accounts
  • Analyze and explain fluctuations in account balances as needed.
  • Work with internal and external auditors to demonstrate process controls, prepare and provide audit schedules, and other requested support.
  • Work cross-functionally with different departments for accurate and timely recording, reporting, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Seek out opportunities for improvements in the financial close process, strengthening controls, and driving the implementation of recommendations.
  • Compliance with SOX requirements-ensure processes are well documented, control procedures are executed, and work papers are SOX compliant; review and update control process flows, and narratives as needed.
  • The ability to work independently and be self-managing
  • Assist with ad hoc/special projects, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA and/or public accounting experience preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in public accounting and/or industry Experience with systems and process implementation and improvement Strong accounting and analytical skills; knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience working in an internal controls/SOX compliant environment Knowledge/Experience with NetSuite is a plus
  • Self-starter with results and goal-oriented mindset, ability to problem solve, prioritize and multi-task
  • Collaborative, and a team player
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to articulate complex issues effectively when engaging with management and various stakeholders throughout the company
  • A high degree of proficiency in MS Excel
  • Ability to work with a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills Experience in Life Sciences industry a plus
