IFF is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to work in the Advanced Analytical Biosciences group located at the Wilmington, Delaware site. The successful candidate will be part of the LC-MS group developing primarily HPLC and LC-MS based bioanalytical methods to support various business problems and research programs. In this role, close collaboration with scientists of multiple disciplines - chemists, biochemists, micro- and molecular biologists, and fermentation engineers is expected. The successful candidate should be adaptive, self-motivated, with a passion for science, and thriving in a team environment. The position will be located at the Experimental Station in Wilmington, Delaware, USA. Please note that this position is 100% laboratory based. Responsibilities: Performs sample preparations including organic solvent extractions, dilutions, and filtrations prior to instrument analysis. Troubleshoots instrument problems and performs general system maintenance, and prepares analytical standards for various projects Conducts research with guidance from experienced R&D leader or technical team leader. Use computer systems and software programs - Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), data acquisition programs - to acquire and document results Effectively collaborates with colleagues on laboratory techniques, sample preparation, instrumentation, data analysis, documentation, and safety Qualifications: Master's degree in a scientific discipline (chemistry, biochemistry, forensic chemistry) with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 8-10 years experience. 3-5 years of demonstrated experience with HPLC sample preparation and analysis Familiarity with Thermo instrumentation and software (Chromeleon) is preferred Knowledge of laboratory safety precautions and protocols for safe handling and the disposal of hazardous agents/reagents, chemicals and materials Has intermediate knowledge of commonly used chemistry concepts, practices, procedures, and regulations Ability to understand and effectively communicate technical information, both oral and written to others, including co-workers, supervisors, and vendors Competence in Microsoft Word and Powerpoint, and Excel for data manipulation Excellent teamwork ability to contribute to multi-technique solutions to complex problems Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and changing priorities We are a global leader in taste, scent, and nutrition, offering our customers a broader range of natural solutions and accelerating our growth strategy.
