Commercial Surety Regional Sales Lead

Job Summary:

The Commercial Surety Regional Sales Lead actively participates in the management of an assigned field territory, in partnership with the Surety Regional Manager. Demonstrates accountability for executing the marketing and profitable production of surety business through the agency distribution system. The Surety Regional Sales Lead plays a key role in growing and managing the business including participating in territory planning and performance analysis including agency and customer management to maximize production, profit, and retention. Analyzes new and existing business opportunities from an exposure, service and sales perspective. Coach and mentor staff within the region, maintaining focus on ongoing continuous improvement efforts.

Job Responsibilities:



  • Demonstrates accountability for the results of the assigned regional office in partnership with the Surety Regional Manager and acts in their place when needed.
  • Owns accountability (if applicable) for up to 2 employees for talent management and navigation of employee related issues that impact morale and work environment to ensure a high performing team including hiring and selection, succession planning, performance and compensation management, and employee development and career coaching as required. Manages priorities and workload distribution and removes barriers that impede progress.
  • Travels as often as needed, including regular use of assigned fleet vehicle to cover assigned territory. This may involve traveling on short notice or other daily driving duties as assigned.
  • Contributes to setting the strategic vision and business plan for the assigned regional office in partnership with the regional office leader.
  • Identifies and engages with new agency or customer prospects in assigned area and builds and maintains strong relationships. Evaluates new business opportunities and exercises authority within assigned region.
  • Analyzes the results of the assigned office and uses insights to recommend adjustments for executing the region's objectives.
  • Handles escalated issues within the region, partnering with Surety Regional Manager to ensure leadership coverage is available for issue resolution.
  • Applies a broader ownership mindset to the execution of business for the assigned office. Influences success by directly coaching and mentoring the team's activities.
  • Works autonomously and takes accountability for closing high complexity and high importance business deals.
  • Balances execution of sales and underwriting with customer visits, attends industry events and is visible while dedicating time to securing and maintaining a risk portfolio suitable for profitable growth.
  • Maintains quality risk selection and risk management while working with the underwriting team to ensure departmental service standards and appropriate risk selections are maintained. Submits all risks that exceed authority for approval.


Job Qualifications:



  • 7+ years of experience in Sales, Underwriting, Business Analysis, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales or a related field and/or commensurate work experience.
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.
