Position Summary:

The role is responsible for the planning and development of critical activities with our multi-unit customers. The multi-unit Account Coordinator is a critical liaison between Halperns' internal partners, fostering strong internal and external customer relationships built on trust and expertise. Manages Halperns' multi-unit customers by providing and executing solutions for day-to-day concerns and focusing on ongoing relationship management activity. Responsible for interactions between our customers' corporate office and internal supporting departments. Responsible for the successful execution of customer projects and activities by leading and engaging with our internal teams Sales, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Pricing, Contract Management and Merchandising to ensure the highest quality service and integrity through teamwork, knowledge, and professionalism.

Essential Functions:

  • Primary day-to-day business contact with Sales, Supply Chain, Merchandising, Pricing, and Contract Management teams to support customer needs.

  • Effectively communicates item forecasts and demand changes to appropriate purchasing teams or supply chain.

  • Establishes, develops and maintains positive customer and internal relationships to drive quality internal execution.

  • Provides key point-of-contact for customers and internal team members. Resolves escalated account issues in a timely, professional manner with outstanding communication with all interested parties.

  • Provides direction to internal customer teams responsible for administration, pricing, inventory planning, and inside sales.

  • Advises and provides suggestions for external customers on best practices for menu changes and new item rollouts. Understands Customers' current needs and anticipates emerging needs.

  • Lead the coordination of key projects, e.g. promotions, limited-time offers, menu changes, product changes, supplier changes, etc..

  • Responsible for the accurate management of proprietary items including item creation, expected forecast, and the successful discontinuation at end of the life cycle.

  • Maintains an in-depth understanding of the company's products and services to advise and make suitable recommendations to customers.

  • Responsible for the success of new restaurant openings, including directing internal teams on account setup, routing needs, product needs, training & test orders, etc.

  • Acts as a key contributor/ presenter in multi-unit account business reviews.

  • Collects and analyzes information and prepares data and sales reports; develops customized reports to meet customer-specific needs.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to problem solve and develop solutions to a variety of complex business issues with the ability to balance customer needs within the framework of Gordon Food Service business practices.

  • Highly motivated, self starter with a focus on details and accuracy in a fast paced environment

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and be able to work independently or within a team environment.

  • Customer service and time management skills.

  • Ability to think creatively - Developing, designing, or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products.

  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  • Skill at persuading others to change their minds or behavior.

  • Negotiation skills and the ability to bring consensus or reconcile differences.

  • Social perceptiveness skills, being aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.

Equipment / Tools / Technology:

  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation and email

  • Must be proficient using a computer keyboard (may need to be tested)

Minimum Years of Experience:

  • One or more years of customer service, inside sales and/or business experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
