DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, performs in depth complex daily coding of inpatient, outpatient, simple/complex deliveries (global and non-global), in addition will be coding complex procedures received from physicians via Epic Charge Review, Single Path and Surgical Case Tool. Accurately abstract CPT, HCPCS, ICD10, and Modifiers as appropriate per clinical documentation and at times by payer. Queries and provides feedback to providers and other clinical department personnel. Performs other related functions as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).

  • Three (3) years of comparable coding experience in Obstetrics & Gynecology coding.

  • Strong skills in CPT, ICD-10, & HCPC professional coding applications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • RHIT or RHIA

  • COBGC Certification - Certified Obstetrics Gynecology Coder.

  • Demonstrated experience coding procedures related to female reproductive health, including but not limited to, hysteroscopies, D&Cs, and related surgical interventions.

  • Excellent written communication skills for clear and professional interactions with healthcare providers, internal staff, and external organizations

  • Strong critical thinking abilities to analyze complex situations and resolve coding-related inquiries effectively

  • Epic experience.

  • Experience with Medi-Cal.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $70,199 - $87,258 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $33.62 - $41.79

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
