Physical Theraphy Assistant

Orthopedic Surgery - Logan Ave

Full-time: 1.0FTE, Monday-Friday, Daytime hours


Responsibilities

The physical therapist assistant is responsible for carrying out treatment interventions/strategies established in the initial plan of care and under the guidance and direction of the supervising Licensed Physical Therapist.

  • Assists Licensed Physical Therapist in patient treatments through implementation of modalities, exercise, ambulation, patient and family teaching, balance strategies, and activities of daily living.
  • Carries out treatment plan and coordinates with patient, family, significant others and care team.
  • Monitors patient's response and modifies treatment to achieve goals.
  • Documents the results of patient's assessment, treatment, follow-up and termination of services
  • Reviews and analyzes quality appropriateness of the physical therapy services delivered. Reports associated problems to supervisor as indicated.
  • Understands and complies with billing and reimbursement procedures according to governmental and third party requirements. Follows through with accurate and ethical billing practices.
  • Accepts responsibility for maintaining and developing personal and professional skills and knowledge related to the work area assigned.
  • Shares new learning with peers to support the clinical skill and program development of peers
  • Assists Licensed Physical Therapist in the oversight of Physical Therapist Assistant students or interns as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited physical therapist assistant program
  • One year of experience preferred.
  • Clinical Internship preferred.
  • Current license to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of Iowa
  • Must read, write, speak and comprehend English.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively (written and orally) with people of diverse professional, educational and lifestyle backgrounds.
