Assist the Evening Care Group Workers I with the care, supervision, and planning/implementation of recreaation and out of school time activies of children and youth 3 - 12 years old. .
Job Description

  • Assist in organizing program materials for lessons and activities, as well as document attendance, incidents and other observation for ages 3-5,
  • Assist in delivering dynamic daily curriculum to engage children ages 4-12 in recreation, academic and social character-building that expands school day learning in a meaningful way.
  • Using your coursework training, model positive guidance and effective classroom management to maintain the safety, well-being and attention of all children while leading fun fitness activities, and guiding children at play.
  • Excellent communication skills with varied audience including children, parents, staff and school personnel.
  • Model positive guidance and effective classroom management to maintain the safety and well-being and attention of all children.
  • Meets regularly with the Evening Care Supervisor and/or Director regarding professional progress and team accountability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Early childhood and school-age assistants shall have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate (GED)
  • One year of experience in a recreational program or licensed day care center serving preschool and/or school-age children or a license exempt preschool and/or school-age child care program operated by a public or private school.


Preferred Qualifications
Child Development Assosiate ( CDA) - ECE or
IL Gateway Level II or higher ECE credential or
IL Gateway Level II or higher School-Age & Youth Development Credential
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of pre-school children between 3-5 yrs.
  • Knowledge of school-age youth Kindergaten to 12 years old
  • Meet all University and DCFS hiring requirements, including background check and Physical.
  • Follow all DCFS licensing guidelines.
  • Attend and participate in all required training and professional development opportunities.

Physical Requirement/ Demands
Must be able to physically interact with children, including talk, hear, sit, stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift and or move items of up to 40 pounds.
