The Weitz Company is hiring a Senior Commissioning Manager to work on projects in the Phoenix, AZ area for the Southwest Business Unit. The Senior Commissioning Manager will successfully manage the commissioning process while providing strategic direction and leadership to project team members and ensuring systems, equipment, and facilities are installed, tested, and operational in accordance with design specifications, quality standards, and client requirements. This role works in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders to lead the turnover of a fully commissioned product to the client. The Senior Commissioning Manager typically reports to the Project Executive. What You'll Do:
- Provide commissioning leadership, management, and direction to the project client(s), design department, and project team(s)
- Lead execution of project and company goals; build high morale and commitment; implement commissioning programs and initiatives
- Ensure project teams implement and execute Company policies, procedures and processes
- Oversee the commissioning process from startup to functional testing, to include development and maintenance of the commissioning schedule(s); identify scheduling and cost improvement opportunities, while ensuring adherence to customer expectations
- Understand and establish contract terms, obligations and budgets; review and enforce prime contract terms and obligations
- Create, modify and execute the commissioning plan, identify and address long lead items, update or amend plan per design specifications, quality standards or client requirements; review and assign scopes of work with the project team, trade partners and vendors; oversee preparation of commissioning documentation, checklists, procedures and reports
- Manage subcontractors, vendors and suppliers involved in commissioning efforts; ensure timely implementation and schedule adherence
- Provide frequent schedule updates to internal and external customers in an organized and professional manner
- Supervise testing and validation of systems and equipment to ensure quality, performance and regulatory standards are met; identify and troubleshoot system installation and operation issues; oversee coordination to determine timely resolution with stakeholders
- Attend and participate in project, subcontractor, OAC and commissioning meetings; facilitate when applicable
- Ensure site compliance with Company Safety & Energy Marshal Plan; identify potential safety hazards and provide alternate solutions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of commissioning activities, including test results, progress reports, and final handover documentation
- Accept overall responsibility of risk management and mitigation for assigned project(s) scope of work
- Manage dispute resolution among owners, vendors, subcontractors, architects, and engineers within delegated authority
- Develop, mentor and create development goals for team members, including delegation of tasks/responsibilities for development; recommend disciplinary action when necessary; delegate job assignments; recommend promotions
- Perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:
- Experience:
- A minimum of ten (10) years of construction project management, mechanical and/or electrical experience is required, to include a minimum of five (5) years of commissioning manager experience.
- Data center commissioning experience with hyper-scale clients is required in accordance with the assigned project(s).
- Proven history of leading others successfully and to teach, develop and mentor others.
- A basic understanding of construction law, generally accepted business practices and LEAN principles experience is desirable.
- OSHA 10 or 30 preferred, or the willingness to obtain upon hire.

- Candidate should have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and have the ability to learn specific software.
- Solid systems experience with Procore, JDE, Bluebeam, and scheduling software.
- Training will be provided on company standards.
