Under the general direction of the Vice President of Student Services and Equity and in close coordination with the President and College Vice Presidents, the Associate Vice President leads strategic initiatives that promote innovation, equity, and student success. This position oversees and coordinates key operational and equity-focused efforts within Student Services, aligning them with institutional goals, addressing structural barriers that produce educational inequities, and implementing high-impact practices to increase student success.
Key responsibilities include leading strategic projects to improve Student Services and instruction processes. The Associate Vice President also secures external funding through competitive grants, facilitates partnerships with external agencies, and assists in articulating programs with other institutions.
The Associate Vice President develops and monitors budgets, collaborates on advancing the Student Equity Plan through shared governance, and provides leadership and supervision for the Dean of Student Engagement and completion, the Director of the Native American Student Support, and the Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) Director. This includes supporting these leaders in advancing culturally responsive programs, fostering student engagement, and promoting initiatives that reflect the college's commitment to equity, inclusion, and student success. Additionally, this position provides strategic leadership for the Beaver Cares program and serves as the college's Chief Conduct Officer. The Associate Vice President oversees and manages processes related to student conduct, ensuring adherence to institutional policies and procedures.

Typical Duties
-
Typical duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Leading innovation initiatives via development, deployment, and management of strategic projects under the direction of the Vice President of Student Services and Equity.
- Conducting regular assessment and analysis of business practices and recommends strategies for process improvement in Student Services and instruction.
- Coordinating efforts to secure external funding through the competitive grants process; providing assistance to staff seeking such funding; assuring an effective college and district review process.
- Assisting in the articulation of area programs with other institutions and in the development of partnerships with external agencies.
- Developing and monitoring budgets and expenditures associated Student Services.
- Collaborating with Student Services and instruction to advance the Student Equity Plan in collaboration with constituency groups through the governance process.
- Leading the development and implementation of the Student Equity and Achievement Program planning process and procedures to ensure the program meets resource allocation compliance, conducting performance review and generating reports.
- Organizing, attending and/or chairing a variety of administrative and staff meetings as required.
- Identifying resource needs and reviews them with appropriate administrative and management staff.
- Promoting staff development and supporting a climate which fosters innovation and excellence.
- Supporting a climate which promotes cultural competence and mutual respect.
- Employing techniques such as interest-based conflict resolution and other appropriate strategies to resolve disagreements and to enhance communication and cooperation among the members of the college and district communities.
- Overseeing and managing processes related to student conduct, including ensuring compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
- Addressing and resolving student conduct issues in alignment with equity-focused principles.
- Serving as the Chair of the Crisis Assessment Support Team (CAST)
- Collaborating with relevant departments to provide education and training on student rights, responsibilities, and behavioral expectations.
- Developing strategies to foster a positive campus environment by promoting restorative justice practices in student conduct matters.
- Collaborating with different stakeholders in the development and equitable implementation of grievance resolution, student conduct, and bias response.
- Collaborating with Title IX coordinators across the District to provide guidance and support to students and staff while ensuring adherence to District polices and state and federal laws.
- Serving as the chair on the Bias Response Team.
- Providing strategic leadership for Beaver Cares, fostering programs that address basic needs, including food security, housing assistance, mental health support, and other essential services for student success.
- Supervising and supporting key leadership positions, including the Dean of Student Engagement and Completion, the Director of the Native American Student Support and Success Program, and the Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) Director, ensuring alignment with the college's strategic goals and equity priorities.
- Supervising and evaluating faculty and staff in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.
- Overseeing the facilitation, development, and implementation of equitable hiring professional development training.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
-
- Have a master's degree from an accredited institution completed by the time of hire.
- Have one year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's administrative assignment.
- Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
