Decypher is seeking a Surgical Technologist L&D candidate to support the Joint Base Fort Lewis-McChord, Tacoma, WA.

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Graduate from Surgical Technology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or completion of a formal training program provided by any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force) for surgical technicians.
  • Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or certified as a Tech-in-Surgery (TS-C) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or possess a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) certification as a surgical technician and/or operating room technician.
  • One year of experience as a Surgical Technician or Operating Room Technician after graduation.
  • Must have surgical knowledge specific to the OB/GYN patient population
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)


RESPONSIBILTIES:



  • Performs the full spectrum of sterile techniques, setting up surgical trays, preparing and daring patients for surgery, and assisting with post-operative dressings.
  • Ensure surgical packs are cleaned and packed for sterilization after every procedure, to include restocking surgical supplies.
  • Maintain a clean safe environment for the patient either by active participation in cleaning of clinical spaces, operating rooms, and medical equipment, or by guiding other personnel in the environmental maintenance.
  • Hands instruments to the surgeon during the procedure by anticipating the surgeon's needs. Remains alert for complications developing during surgery such as hemorrhage, shock and cardiac arrest.
  • Assists with application of dressings
  • Cleans operating room after surgery; removes and disposes of soiled and/or contaminated materials; changes linen; washes instruments and assembles them for sterilization. Replenishes sterile supplies and restocks shelves.


Compensation will be no less than that required by applicable Federal or State regulations, including as applicable, but not limited to that defined in applicable Area Wage Determination (AWD) tables as required under the Service Contract Act (SCA) $27.83 Per hour.

Additional premium rate will be added and discussed at the time of Interview.
