Position Overview

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Sr. Director, IT Governance with 15 years of diverse leadership in IT Security and Privacy, Data Governance, and Compliance within the Healthcare and/or Financial Services industries. This role will be responsible for establishing and enforcing the IT governance frameworks, policies, and standards that support our mission to leverage and organize data and AI as a strategic asset, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and providing methods for adequate measurement of relevant KPI's. The successful candidate will be adept at creating a system for managing and using AI and data in a secure, ethical, accurate, reliable, and compliant way, involving the collecting, analyzing, sharing, and storing of all data.

Essential Duties and Functions

  • Develop Data, AI, and IT governance frameworks, policies and standards to ensure data integrity, security, compliance, and alignment with business and organizational goals.

  • Analyze and evaluate current internal and external data and AI compliance efforts with an eye towards streamlining this process within technology and across other business and functional units.

  • Assess compliance, identify gaps, and develop risk and governance guidance documentation based on industry standards (e.g. NIST Risk Management Frameworks (RMFs, GRC, ISO, COBIT, etc.).

  • Continuously research and maintain subject matter expertise in evolving regulatory programs and technology standards such as HIPAA, HITECH, ISO/IEC, NIST, etc.

  • Partner with the internal teams in the remediation of data privacy and security gaps.

  • Lead and manage cross-functional teams to support data and AI governance initiatives.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including legal and compliance, and provide consulting on regulatory, technical, and procedural compliance activities and requirements.

  • Partner with CISO Security and Risk Management teams on IT certification. requirements, test strategies, and methodologies.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on data/AI governance and management issues.

  • Partner with the internal teams on the selection, implementation, and usage of corporate governance tools and solutions to aid in the protection of information assets.

  • Act as primary owner for governance tools and solutions.

  • Measure and report on data and AI governance effectiveness and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Have the ability to navigate detailed Quality Management System processes to demonstrate best in class compliance standing.

  • Facilitate training and awareness programs on data and AI governance best practices across the organization.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Technology, Business Administration or related field.

  • Master of Science in Business Administration or Data Science-focused program such as Information Technology, Computer Science or related field, a plus.

  • 15+ years of experience in IT governance, data management, or related fields, with a proven track record of leadership.

  • Deep expertise in data governance frameworks, methodologies, and best practices (e.g., NIST, COBIT, DGI, etc.).

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change across diverse teams and stakeholders.

  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data management/governance issues.

  • Experience and proficiency in data management tools and software (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, etc.).

  • Certifications in IT governance (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) are a plus but not required.

  • Proactive, results-oriented mindset with a passion for data-driven decision-making.

  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly.

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive initiatives in a collaborative environment.

  • Ability to adequately prioritize tasks with competing deliverable timelines.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. Must have experience presenting, including the ability to take complex topics and present them in a simplified, consumable manner.
