The Weitz Company is hiring Project Engineers with ongoing experience who are frustrated by the lack of supportive development to prolifically contribute to the growth of the organization you currently work in. What You'll Do:

The Project Engineer II is responsible for several functions throughout the duration of assigned projects, including preconstruction, planning, buyout, ongoing management, field supervision, and project closeout. In this role, you will be supported in developing your comprehensive intelligence, actionable smarts, and persuasive leadership to ensure the stakeholders we serve deliver resounding wins. Your contributions will be measurably rewarding, and your voice will matter every day.

Field Leadership Development:



  • Educate, persuade and influence trade partners adoption of our safety culture
  • Monitor and maintain our safety first and always culture
  • Understand plans, specifications, and compliance requirements by trade
  • Tactically manage the execution of scope
  • Tactically manage the QA/QC/Contract Compliance processes
  • Plan and execute seamless site logistics daily, weekly, monthly
  • Collaborate with AHJs on code, regulations, and mandated requirements
  • Participate in AHJ, third party, and owner/lender inspections as required


Preconstruction Knowledge Attainment:



  • Review proposed design documents for constructability
  • Identify gaps in constructability through collaboration w/ trade partners
  • Collaborate with design/engineering TEAMs on resolutions to constructability challenges
  • Conduct quantified takeoffs for sub proposal verification
  • Participate in and contribute to design charrettes with design/engineering TEAMs
  • Develop marketable scopes for solicited trade partners proposals
  • Participate in the development of project budgets, contractual GMPs, Lump Sums, etc.
  • Participate in prospective project interviews and owner/client negotiations


Project Operations Leadership Development:



  • Organize, review, update, maintain and post construction documents and drawings
  • Collaborate with project team to complete requests for information (RFI)
  • Review submittals and other project documents for accuracy against plans and specifications
  • Prepare inspections, compliance audits and the non-conformance log
  • Manage material and equipment delivery status
  • Maintain and distribute accurate project logs (i.e. buyouts, subcontractor material status reports, submittals, RFIs)
  • Draft scopes of work to be included in subcontracts and/or purchase order agreements
  • Track subcontractor requests for change; solicit pricing and draft change orders, within delegated authority
  • Utilize virtual design tools to assist with project coordination
  • Understand project software, implement Lean Last Planner and update project schedule
  • Facilitate regular project meetings; record and distribute meeting minutes, as needed
  • Obtain and manage closeout information; gather and create punch list items; prepare as-built drawings; assist with warranty process
  • Assist with dispute resolution among subcontractors, vendors, architects and owners
  • Perform other duties as assigned



What We're Looking For:



  • Experience:

    • An industry-related bachelor's degree is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
    • A minimum of two (2) years of construction project management experience is required.
    • LEAN principles experience is desirable.
    • OSHA 30 preferred, or the willingness to obtain upon hire.

    • Candidates should have experience with Microsoft Office 360 Apps, and be technologically adaptable to emerging technologies.
    • Experience with industry apps, including, Procore, JDE, Bluebeam, and Primavera P6.
    • Willingness to learn expectations of technology uses and comply with company requirements for the use of technology.
